By now it's common knowledge that a Tesla can leave most cars in its dust, so when a tesla lines up at a drag strip you know it's going to be good. Electric cars can put down instant torque like nothing else, and in the eco-world world of today, they are ever-growing in popularity. The model 3 is proving to be a fierce competitor to many performance cars and is even capable of handling some impressive driving on the track.

Watch this Model 3 Performance put in a fight for the sustainable future of fast cars by leaving several V8's behind on the drag strip.

Corvette Z06 and Hellcat get LEFT

The Chevy Z06 C7 Corvette is no joke, a 6.2 L Supercharged V8  puts down 650 hp to the rear wheels. It's an absolute weapon and at just shy of $90k it's a lot of performance for the money.

But when you could spend around $55-70k for a Tesla Model 3 and leave the corvette in the dust, the EV starts making a lot more sense.

A standard Model 3 will do standing start to 60mph in just 3.1 seconds, with the sportier models coming in under 3 seconds.

The next victim for the V8 killing tesla was the Dodge Hellcat, which got dusted at the start but then gained the legs over the Tesla.

Over the short distance, the Tesla just flies, with a torque figure of around 300 lb-ft that is put down instantly, it's a pretty nifty drag weapon straight from the factory.

Anything that came against this model 3 P100D was in for some hard competition. And it doesn't feel like it will be long before new Teslas will be running 10 second quarter miles.

It's not been long since electric vehicles were seen as almost a gimmick. Something that could never be a match or a challenge for a huge gas-guzzling V8. But EV's have come a long way, and sales are increasing. Hybrid or fully electric, these versions of sustainable cars have been coming full force and there's no sign of stopping now. Infrastructure is growing and in many countries, government grants encourage you to buy.

This video is a perfect example that maybe there is a future where EV's can produce the same kind of performance that we crave from gas-powered vehicles. The strange sensation of seeing the Tesla take off in absolute silence remains quite bizarre, and the sound of a V8 going full gas will send a tingle down your spine like nothing else. So it feels like a case of enjoying it while we can.
