It’s hard to deny that the Ram 1500 TRX is a genuine off-road monster pickup truck. It’s not only quick and fast off the road but is also able to outrun many vehicles on the streets. With that in mind, Hennessey Performance can evolve the TRX into the more powerful Mammoth 1000.

Mat Watson of carwow is putting the power of the Mammoth 1000 to test. Instead of the usual drag and roll races though, Mat had the Hennessey monster pickup from Texas against an off-road racing beast from the United Kingdom – A Bowler Defender -- engage in a tug-of-war contest.

Tale Of The Tape: Bowler Defender Vs Hennessey Mammoth 1000

The Bowler Defender is essentially a Land Rover Defender with various modifications both inside and out. These modifications include a new suspension and chassis, thereby allowing the Defender to gain greater off-road capabilities good enough for rallying competitions.

Somehow, Bowler didn’t tinker with the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, as this motor still delivers 296 hp of max output and 295 lb-ft of peak torque. A Defender weighs around 4,850 lbs, making it a lot lighter than a Mammoth 1000 at 7,055 lbs. But in terms of power, the Bowler Defender loses to the Mammoth 1000 which offers around 1,012 hp of max output and 969 lb-ft of peak torque from its supercharged Hellcat engine.

Mat placed these rivaling specs against each other and it’s pretty obvious the Mammoth 1000 would win in a one-on-one tug of war.

But since to see is to believe, the tug-of-war contest proceeded as planned. As expected, the Mammoth 1000 pulled the Bowl Defender in. However, the contest became pointless before one vehicle reach the cone since their tires just spun in the dirt. Nevertheless, they declared the Mammoth 1000 the winner of the one-on-one tug-of-war. The Mammoth 1000 was simply too powerful and too heavy for the Bowler.

To make the match more interesting, they tied another Bowler Defender to the ropes, and it became a two-on-one war. The Mammoth 1000 is still more powerful than two Defenders but the Bowlers are now heavier than the Hennessey. The result was a tie with no vehicle gaining an inch.

Thus, the contest went to a third round, where three Bowler Defenders were going up against a single Mammoth 1000. Three Defenders still have less horsepower than the Mammoth 1000, but they have more torque. Moreover, three Bowlers weigh more than twice the Hennessey. In this contest, the Mammoth 1000 simply had to concede defeat to the Defenders.
