On today's episode of "Sticking it to the man, Muscle Car Edition," we have another man who has taken it upon himself to do the opposite of what a person is "supposed to do" when building a fourth gen Camaro. The early fourth gens came with the old Chevrolet LT1, but the later years came with the glorious LS1, meaning that a big power LS series is the perfect engine to have in the car – or is it? One man on a mission set to prove everyone wrong, Cooper Bogetti, who's gone where very few – if any – have gone before, and put a 2JZ straight 6 in his Camaro.

"Trailer Park Supra"

The guys over at 1320Video had the opportunity to catch up with Cooper during FL2K 2020 at Bradenton Motorsports Park and watch him make his first passes in the car running this incredible setup.

Cooper originally bought the car with the factory V6 and around 300,000 miles on it, which although not as terrible as the third gen Iron Duke Camaros, the engine still needed to go. He then did what everyone else would do and put an LS in it, planning to make easy power like so many people have done before. However, through his work on his good friend Cleetus McFarland's YouTube channel, Cooper has seen his fair share of LS swaps and decided to change things up.

The pewter catfish Camaro now features an Induction Performance stage 2 2JZ short block and an 83mm turbo making 1,180 rear wheel horsepower through a powerglide transmission. Couple this with many various suspension upgrades, and Cooper was ready and hopeful to run somewhere in the mid 8 second mark. And, as you can see in the video above, he hit that mark and then some!

Low Expectations, But High Hopes

In Cooper's first ever pass with this off the wall setup, he met his goal of running mid 8s with a time of 4.468s at 164.95 mph, and even did a small wheelie coming off the line. Coming off the high of his practice run for the event, Cooper then proceeded to run a 8.91 second pass, which was enough to get him into the class he was hoping for.

Cooper also got the awesome opportunity to race against his good friend Cleetus driving Ruby, where he lost the race but still ran his best time of the event at 8.363s. Unfortunately, the event got cut short due to rain, but we can definitely expect to see a lot more from Cooper and the Trailer Park Supra as he pushes to get the car into 7 second quarter mile times.
