Heading off into off-road territory doesn't get much more exhilarating than doing it in a Polaris RZR. The roll cage is a handy clue as to why it's a favorite among adrenaline junkies as well as a motor that sounds like a chorus of chainsaws ready to raze the entire Amazon rainforest. But what happens if you swap out a motor in favor of something more powerful?

Toyota Supra Engine

Texas-based YouTube automotive fan Cleetus McFarland showed up at one arid location with hopes of experiencing what it's like to drive a Polaris outfitted with a 2JZ engine from a Toyota Supra. Typically, 2JZs are twin-turbo, three-liter, inline six-cylinder engines with aluminum heads and iron blocks with 320 horsepower.

The most powerful Polaris coming out of the factory is the RZR Pro XP 4 boasting a turbocharged four-stroke twin-cylinder engine that can generate up to 181 horsepower. It also comes with an upgraded automatic transmission. The XP4 also seats four and has nearly 15 inches of ground clearance when it hits the off-road frontier. In the right hands, regardless of model, a Polaris can even pop a wheelie for miles.

Big-Time Modifications

But the folks testing their souped-up Polaris in the desert claim their custom off-roader can hit 1,100 horsepower. If that wasn't convincing enough, the big-paddled treads on the tires was a strong indication that this Polaris loves to make strong statements in the sand and turf.

The driver also takes advantage of the Polaris' modified steering wheel, which provides easy access to trans-brake, bump, and shift functions since both hands need to be on the wheel, especially when tackling dunes.

Off-Road Monster

Although McFarland didn't record any speeds or times with this modified Polaris, the video shows that it's definitely a monster off the road. Although the loose sandy surface may have played a bit of havoc when the RZR was at full throttle, the verdict was unanimous. Yeah, it's fast.
