As a way to celebrate that milestone, they have posted a video showing drag and roll races between a Porsche 911 GT3 RS and a Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody. The action between these two supercars takes place on a drag strip in Ontario, Canada. The results may be a surprise to some, but not to others.

Hellcat Has More Power, But 911 GT3 RS Is Light And Quick Shifting

The Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody and Porsche 911 GT3 RS are both very fast cars. But they use different formulas for building speed. The Hellcat uses a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that produces an astounding 717 horsepower and 606 lb-ft of torque. But at nearly 4,500 pounds, the Hellcat also weighs as much as some full-size SUVs.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS has a 4.0-liter flat-6 power plant good for 520 horsepower. This may be almost 200 horsepower less than the Hellcat, but the 911 GT3 RS only weighs 3,152 pounds. It also has a 7-speed PDK transmission known for lightning quick shifts.

The first race is a drag race that starts from a standing start. The 911 GT3 RS and the Hellcat both get off the line well and are even at first. But then the Hellcat's driver manually upshifts the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. As he does this, the Porsche jumps ahead. The 911 GT3 RS then maintains the lead the rest of the way and finishes the quarter mile race ahead of the Hellcat.

The first roll race takes place while both cars are going 50 kilometers per hour. This race is dead even from start to finish. Neither the Hellcat nor the 911 GT3 RS gets a noticeable lead on the other at any point. They cross the finish line at the same time.

The factors surrounding the second roll race are similar to the first one. The only difference is that Sam is driving the 911 GT3 RS. The Porsche takes a slight lead early in the race when the Dodge's driver manually downshifts the transmission. The Porsche keeps the lead the rest of the way, and finishes the race with the win.

In the end, the lighter weight and quick shifting transmission of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS enable it to outrun a Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody. The Dodge's horsepower advantage was not enough to overcome its significant heft.
