A burnout is something that is done as you unleash the power of the car and set off. It is where the rear-tires spin up and leave rubber on the ground as you drive away. It shows how much power some cars have while also serving as a show-off tactic. However, there is a chance that doing a burnout can not only land you in trouble, but also land your car in trouble as well. That is exactly what happened in Sydney, Australia, after someone attempted a burnout in his Mercedes AMG C63 Coupe.

Burnout Gone Wrong During Wedding Celebration

As is visible in a report by 7NEWS Australia, the incident took place in a large residential area. The exact area was Chester Hill, and the owner was attempting to do the burnout as part of a wedding celebration. He had won the car in a competition last May and he clearly wanted to get the most out of it. He revved the C63 over and over and just couldn’t get it to do the burnout. In a video shot inside of the car, it appears that traction control was still on.

Seconds later, the car burst into flames and was totaled. The owner tried to claim that the resulting fire was thanks to a mechanical failure. He claimed that it was possibly related to a recall for possible foaming transmission fluid that can then cause a fire, but Mercedes says that it is only a problem in extreme driving situations, and this was not one of those situations.

Owner And Passengers Escaped Without Injury

The police firmly laid the blame at the owner's door. It didn’t take long for him to be issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice for driving in a dangerous manner and negligent driving. The owner, Jean-Pierre Mouawad, and his passengers all escaped from the car without injury. The video of the incident was shared widely on social media. It is not clear if the burnout was supposed to be part of the wedding, or if he just saw the wedding and wanted to do something special at random for the happily married couple.
