The city of Calgary is more than Canada's energy capital; it's a Valhalla for hardcore gearheads who treat fossil fuel as a food group and eye Teslas as a form of kryptonite. It's where rad rods can perform burnouts on the streets oblivious to traffic and do-gooders convert Polaris Slingshots into Batmobiles. Not surprisingly, the city is the world domination headquarters for Daily Driven Exotics, an entertainment company owned by high roller Damon Fryer whose riches have enabled him to own a stable of supercars. In a video released Friday, fans can see how the very qualities that made him rich also helped him avoid a speeding ticket while driving his Porsche CGT.

Porsche Allegedly Doing 70 In A 50 Zone

Fryer happened to be out of town on business, namely in Richmond, British Columbia, a community just outside Vancouver. One stop included checking a garage to see the progress of his Ferrari, which was undergoing some bodywork augmentations. Satisfied with the work being done on the supercar, he and his buddy Dave hop back into the Porsche and drive off until a police officer pulls them over.

The officer informs Fryer he was doing 70 kilometers an hour (around 40 mph), prompting Fryer to argue he was only doing 50 km/h (roughly 30 mph). "I was going 60 [more than 35 mph] and you were getting away from me," responded the boy in blue.

That's when Fryer asks whether the speeding infraction was recorded on a dashcam, prompting the officer to admit no dashcam was used.

"So it's your word against mine," he said.

"Yep," replied the officer.

Fryer then asked how the officer was able to determine how fast he was going since he couldn't see the patrol car in his rearview mirror. That's when the cop said he was in an adjoining lane three cars back. Fryer then questioned the officer how he could determine his speed while looking at his own speedometer. Surely, he reasoned, the cop couldn't view both simultaneously.

Bazinga! Game, set, match for Fryer. The officer decided to give him a warning instead, and in the process became a fan of Fryer's Daily Driven Exotics YouTuber site.

"I think you've been a cool cop," surmised Fryer.

Now, imagine what would have happened if Fryer decided to evade a ticket the old-fashioned way by leaving the police officer in the dust? Fryer's CGT, the same model used by Anthony Hopkins in the movie Fracture, has the goods to pull it off, courtesy of a 5.7-liter, turbocharged V10 engine delivering more than 600 horsepower with the ability to jump from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

Luckily, Fryer used his head instead of his lead foot and wound up winning anyway. That's still pretty radical and so Calgarian.
