The AutoTopNL YouTube channel is a great resource for all things automotive. Max and his team have become famous for their POV reviews of various cars. These range from stock to modified monsters. Another set of videos they do are the flat-out blasts down Germany’s autobahn, which features sections without speed restrictions. One of their best offerings shows a Ford GT350 Shelby Mustang blasting along the Autobahn.

Max gives us a very quick walkaround of the Mustang, which is finished in a stunning yet subtle gray, before climbing inside and getting himself strapped in. The interior will look familiar to many Shelby Mustang owners. From the driver's seat, there's of course the famous Cobra logo emblazoned in the center of the steering wheel, which is an homage to the Shelby Cobra. Max has a camera focused on the car's speedo, while also having an app open on his phone to potentially record the speed more accurately via GPS.

A High-Performance Mustang

It is perhaps worth watching this video just for the sound alone. Shelby Mustangs are even more performance-oriented than standard Mustangs and the bellow of the V8 engine is something muscle car fans the world over will instantly recognize. It must be stressed that this is not something you should try on any road, as the German Autobahn has specific sections for this. Max is able to take the Shelby up to breakneck speeds, topping out at around 170 mph before slowly easing off.

The Shelby Mustangs are high-performance versions of the Ford Mustang and they were originally produced by Shelby American from 1965 to 1968 before Ford took over in 1969. They were reintroduced in the mid-2000s, and there have been other versions such as the GT350 SE, the GT500, and the GT500 SE. Ford Performance is currently tasked with creating Shelby cars, but the GT350 has been discontinued following the 2021 model year. The GT350 is effectively being replaced by the new Ford Mustang Mach 1, which is the fifth generation of the Mach 1 and is being introduced for the 2021 model year.
