Tim Burton, or Shmee150, can be a bit marmite, but the man is very committed to bringing us some top automotive YouTube content. In his latest video, he’s taken a couple of the cars in his collection, dubbed shmeemobiles, and pitted them against each other with what he calls a surprising result. These are the Lamborghini Huracan STO and the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.

Comparing The Lambo With The Benz

These are two track focussed cars that are quite different from each other. The GT Black Series is the lap record holder for a factory spec production car at the Nurburgring, and only about 50 or 60 of them are in the UK where Shmee150 lives. The car has a flat-plane crank, 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 850 hp, as Shmee has given the car a tuning upgrade. The Huracan STO meanwhile is one of the wildest Lamborghini’s ever seen. It has a 5.2-liter mid-engine V10 with 640 hp, and both of the cars have seven-speed dual-clutch gearboxes. So that is a lot less power than the GT Black Series, but that doesn’t mean per se that it will lose out.

The Lamborghini And Mercedes Go Head To Head

After warming both cars up, the two cars lined up on the runway. Shmee in the Mercedes, with his friend Christian in the Lamborghini. There were three races for the two cars to face-off in, and in race one, both cars got a pretty even launch despite all that extra power in the Mercedes, and while the STO pulled ahead initially the Mercedes then came back at the Lamborghini, and just pipped the STO as the pair reached the end of the run. Very impressive from the Lamborghini to hold out.

The Second And Third Races Were A Very Close Call

The two cars lined up again for race two, and the STO got a much better jump than the GT Black Series and there was nothing Shmee could do to reel in the Huracan, even if he was catching up in the Mercedes as they got closer to the ¼ mile. The final race saw a much better launch for Shmee that time and it came down to the line, with the Mercedes just edging out and therefore it won the best out of three competitions.

It was though a very, very close call.
