YouTube channel Drag Racing and Car StuffYouTube channel Drag Racing and Car Stuff has just uploaded a brief video showcasing a variety of drag races between Mopars and Tesla Plaids. The video features a variety of vehicles, be it Teslas or Mopars, and while each car is very different, each of them qualify for the infamous Dominic Toretto "10 second car" classification. Put more simply, each of the cars featured in the video are insanely quick. Admittedly, the video provides almost no information about the modifications and specifications of each car, however, the older Dodge Charger at the start of the video is running a Whipple supercharger system.

Modern Mopars Or Technological Teslas?

There's simply a lot to love about these mechanical monsters and honestly, that applies to both classes of vehicles.

As the performance world is no longer dominated by internal combustion machines, very many have questioned just who is superior. Is it muscle, or technology? The video depicts a variety of drag races between Mopars and Tesla Plaids seeking to answer this very question. So, who is the winner?

The races are pretty close for the most part, with every single car dropping a 9-second run or better. Although, it is important to mention that the Whipple supercharged Dodge Charger simply obliterates the Tesla, dropping a monstrous 8.1 second quarter mile at 171 mph.

Things To Consider In Choosing The Dominant Dragster

So, which is the ultimate 1/4 mile dragster? If anything, the video showcases that both have potential, but how does one actually decide.

Here is where the video fails to provide the final say as it leaves factors like pricing, level of modification and maintenance costs unsaid. Besides pricing, the rising cost of gas is something that must be a serious consideration for anyone looking to enjoy the maximum power available in the Mopar monsters. Not to mention that performance vehicles most often run on premium fuel or even flex-fuels like E85, meaning that the cost of gas is set to be even greater. Having said that, the limited range of a Tesla and its charging time might make feeding the car cheaper but more inconvenient.

Finally, the driving experience between the two types of cars is radically different, in one you are hearing the thunderous growl of a big displacement engine and feel the tires fight for traction, whereas in the other you experience blissful silence as electric motors deliver torque instantaneously.
