A stock Dodge Challenger or Charger SRT Hellcat can be very quick in quarter mile runs. Some firms like Hennessey Performance offer to thrill things up with their tuning programs.

This YouTube video offers an adrenaline rush, especially when you hear the sweet purrs and roars of the of Zdung Ho's Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat as it barged into the used-to-be unbreakable seven-second quarter mile barrier.

First Charger Hellcat In The Seven

Ho's Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat isn't an ordinary four-door sedan Hellcat. It was already posting times of 9 seconds in the quarter mile. Then on April 25, 2021, (just after midnight) Ho had his sedan run the strip at the Houston Raceway Park. The loud purr of his supercharged sedan right before the go signal somewhat indicated the great things to come.

After 7.908 seconds from the get-go to the end of the quarter mile at 175 mph, Ho's Go Mango sedan – wearing drag radial tires – became the first Hellcat Charger to enter the 7-second territory thereby becoming the quickest Charger Hellcat. Prior to that run, Ho's Hellcat was already the first Charger Hellcat to beat the 8-second barrier.

The secret to this new record is that fact that Ho's Hellcat actually doesn't have its old Hellcat engine, but a 7.2-liter (441 cubic inches) Stroker mill supported by a 4.5-liter Whipple supercharger. Built by Demon Performance and TKM, Ho's Hellcat features a Winberg billet crankshaft, Carrillo Pro-H Rods, custom Diamond pistons, a Manton Roller Rocker arm System and a custom camshaft from Demon Performance.

Ho's Hellcat likewise features a Nitrous Outlet spray bar setup, ThiTek cylinder heads, an FI Interchiller system, a Fore triple pump fuel system and ID2150 injectors. Ho – owner of ZHTunes – himself tuned the system. Further installations include a Menscer coilover suspension setup, Driveshaft Shop 1,400-hp half shafts, a Driveshaft Shop aluminum driveshaft and a Per4Mance Development differential brace.

Completing the setup are a Paramount Performance-tuned ZF 8HP90 automatic transmission and High Horse Performance/Bogart 15-inch beadlock wheels shod with 315/60 Mickey Thompson pro radials. For safety reasons and to make it NHRA-legal to run in the 7-second territory (it won't be kicked out of the raceway), Ho also installed a full safety cage as well as a parachute.
