Muscle cars are a staple of US car culture. Their intimidating presence and powerful V8s made them some of the coolest cars the industry has ever produced. And while the unique design of muscle cars has captured the eyes of many over the years, their performance is what many enthusiasts consider to be their most important feature. After all, they were all envisioned as affordable machines that would allow everyday, normal American enthusiasts to stick it to pricey European sports cars and leave them in the dust.

But after the golden age of muscle cars had passed, Europe thought of a brand-new concept that some consider just as cool: sports sedans. In this list, we take a look at some of the finest results of fitting a powerful V8 engine into sporty sedans, all of which could easily take on muscle cars both in a straight line and around bends.
