Game of Thrones is one of the most popular and endearing television shows of all time. And it isn’t even on basic cable or a network station! The HBO phenomenon, created by the literary genius of author George RR Martin, has become a cultural sensation since its arrival in 2011. By the end of 2017, it had secured itself as one of the most-watched TV shows ever: the season finale for season 7 set an HBO record in ratings on Sunday night with a total of 30.6 million viewers. Unfortunately, now we have to wait until 2019 for the final, epic conclusion of the series, as season 8 will be its last.

Game of Thrones has a growth trajectory that was unrivaled by any HBO show other than the mob drama The Sopranos, which it eventually passed in terms of popularity during season four. Since it’s the most watched HBO show ever, and continuously breaks long-standing records, it’s no wonder that the stars of the show have become superstars even outside of Westeros. Emilia Clarke has branched out to play lead roles in Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), Terminator Genisys (2015), among others. Kit Harington starred in Pompeii (2014) and Seventh Son (2014). Peter Dinklage is reportedly the most highly-paid actor in Hollywood.

The show is so popular that five of the actors mentioned below have managed to secure contracts guaranteeing £2 million per episode in recent months, which is more than double the amount that the cast of the Big Bang Theory negotiated for themselves in the past (though in their defense, there are more episodes of the Big Bang Theory per season).

Now let’s take a look at the whips they drive. You might be surprised to see that they aren't all driving Lamborghinis and Bentleys. Here are 19 cars that the cast of Game of Thrones drive.

19 Sean Bean – Original Land Rover

via seanbeanonline.net

When everyone learned that Sean Bean was going to play the main character in Game of Thrones, it was a bit of star power that helped catapult the show into the stratosphere in the earliest stages. But when Sean was taken out at the end of the first season, in a twist of events that shocked the world (except the book readers) in an unheard-of main-character-execution, fans learned that no one was safe on Game of Thrones.

Sean drives an original Army Land Rover, though he recently gave it to auction to Sheffield United.

Sean Bean, of course, played the patriarch of the Stark family, Lord Eddard Stark (aka Ned). He was the father to many of the main characters in the show, including Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran, and Rickon, by his wife Catelyn Tully (though only half of those characters are alive now), and he was the uncle/protector of Jon Snow.

18 Jason Momoa – Range Rover

via celebzz.com

Jason Momoa is one of the actors that has succeeded his short time on Game of Thrones and has come out a superstar. He played the Dothraki khalasar/chieftain, the “Great Khal,” Khal Drogo. He is a legendary warrior, despite being in the show for such a limited time, and he was the first and only husband of Queen Daenerys, long before her ambitions for the Iron Throne were realized. He was also responsible for taking out Daenerys’ weak and overbearing brother, Viserys Targaryen, in Season 1 (by melting gold on his head).

He never made it past the first season, and though he was a ruthless warrior he became a fan favorite and is still remembered fondly by fans and cosplayers alike. Much to the chagrin of women worldwide, Jason Momoa is married to American actress Lisa Bonet. He drives a white Range Rover, as pictured here, as well as a black Land Rover Defender.

17 Kit Harington – Jaguar F-Type

via pinterest.com

Kit Harington (along with Emilia Clarke) is arguably the “main” character in Game of Thrones, as he plays the last surviving Stark (technically), Jon Snow. In recent episodes it’s been discovered that he was in fact born Aegon Targaryen, the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, thus giving him succession rights to the Iron Throne. He’s also having an affair with his paternal aunt, Daenerys Targaryen, and is one of the five highest-paid actors in TV history, recently securing a contract for £2 million per episode.

His real-life partner is Rose Leslie, who played his on-show lover Ygritte, before meeting a grisly fate. So it seems Jon Snow does know something after all. Here he’s shown next to his spiffy Jaguar F-Type. He’s also an avid motorcyclist and owns an expensive Triumph Thruxton bike.

16 Sophie Turner – Audi A7

via celebzz

Sophie Turner plays Sansa Stark on the show, the eldest daughter of Eddard and Catelyn Stark. She starts off as a very naïve character, but as time goes by and her family suffers she turns into one of the strongest female presences in Game of Thrones, and is now leading Winterfell and the North going into the final season (in Jon Snow’s absence).

Sophie drives multiple cars, including this Audi A7, Volvo V90, and a white Porsche Panamera.

Her father, mother, and elder brother Robb were all taken out in gruesome fashion, so you could say she has a bit of a chip on her shoulder. She’s also real-life besties with her on-show sister, Maisie Williams/Arya Stark.

15 Lena Headey – Tesla Model S

via car and driver

Lena Headey plays another fan favorite—or the person everyone loves to hate more than anyone else on the show—Queen Cersei Lannister. She is the widow of King Robert Baratheon, daughter of Lord Tywin Lannister, twin sister and lover of Jaime Lannister, elder brother of Tyrion Lannister, and she became Queen of the Seven Kingdoms after all of her children perished.

Lena drives a Tesla Model S, as shown here, as well as a Chrysler 300, and is one of the five Tier A actors that has recently secured a £2 million per episode contract.

She’s had a hard life, made many terrible and unjustifiable decisions, but ultimately her ruthlessness has gotten her to the Iron Throne and made her one of the most powerful characters on the show.

14 Maisie Williams – Land Rover Range Rover

via land rover seattle

Maisie Williams plays Arya Stark, the third child of Eddard and Catelyn Stark, younger sister of Sansa, and older sister of Bran. Early in the series, after her father was beheaded by the Lannisters, Arya narrowly escaped the persecution of House Stark, though everyone believed her lost.

In actuality, she went to train as a Faceless Man at the House of Black and White, and has become a sneaky little assassin and one of the more fearsome characters on the show, trusting no one (including her sister at times, it seems). Though Maisie Williams drives a Range Rover, she only recently completed her driving tests, and here she’s pictured next to a Vauxhall Corsa learner car.

13 Nikolaj Coster-Waldau – Audi F103

via moonmgmt.com

Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau plays Jaime Lannister, dubbed the Kingslayer after infamously ending the Mad King’s reign. Jaime has a relationship with his sister Cersei, and all of his biological children are now gone (you can imagine how). He previously was a member of the Kingsguard for King Robert Baratheon, then Lord Commander for his sons Joffrey and Tommen, and is now Commander of the Lannister armies with his sister as queen. He repeatedly deviates from unconscionable to heroic, and is one of the five actors who recently got a £2 million per episode contract win. Here he’s shown with his classic, old-school Audi F103.

12 Alfie Allen – Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class

via gotceleb.com

Alfie Allen plays Theon Greyjoy, a character that everyone at once felt sad for, then despised, then felt sad for once again. Theon’s had perhaps a harder life than anyone else on the show (who’s still alive), as he’s the only surviving son of Lord Balon Greyjoy of the Iron Islands, and was captured and punished for an extended period of time by Ramsay Bolton.

Alfie drives a Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, and he’s shown here getting into it alongside his famous sister, singer Lily Allen.

He was turned into a eunuch and broken pet named Reek, but is now beginning to relearn all the things that made him a good person in his former life. We’ll see what becomes of him, but I don’t have high hopes.

11 Iain Glen – Renault Scenic

via dailymail.co.uk

Iain Glen plays another character that it’s hard not to feel sorry for, Jorah Mormont. Once upon a time, Jorah was an exiled Northern lord that had sworn fealty to Daenerys Targaryen, but after professing his love and creeping on her for too long, he was banished from her court. The entire time, it was learned, he was working as a spy for Varys, King Robert’s spymaster, though his love for Khaleesi was real.

He later becomes buds with Tyrion Lannister, capturing him and hoping to earn Khaleesi’s trust again, then he contracted Greyscale, but has since been cured by the Citadel acolyte Samwell Tarly. Surprisingly, tough guy Iain Glen is not a tough guy in real life, as is shown here where he’s shopping with his wife and putting groceries in his Renault Scenic.

10 Natalie Dormer – Aston Martin DB5

via variety.com

Natalie Dormer plays (or played, rather) the beautiful Margaery Tyrell, who became Queen Consort through her marriage to the evil Joffrey Baratheon, and later Tommen Baratheon. She is the granddaughter of perennial schemer Lady Olenna Tyrell, and became one of the most powerful Tyrells ever.

Natalie drives either a Toyota Prius or, as she’s shown in front of here, a classic Aston Martin DB5.

Unfortunately, her desire to become Queen proved to be her downfall as she was eventually take out alongside her brother and father when Cersei Lannister orchestrated the explosion-by-wildfire of the Great Sept of Balor, in one of the most iconic scenes in the entire show (the first seven minutes of the season 6 finale).

9 Aidan Gillen – Volvo Amazon 121

via classiccargarage

Aidan Gillen played one of the most dangerous and smartest men in the Seven Kingdoms, Lord Petyr Baelish, aka Littlefinger. He was originally the Master of Coin to King Robert and King Joffrey, then became Lord Protector of the Vale after marrying and taking out Lysa Tully. He was always in love with Catelyn Stark, Ned’s wife, and Petyr always had the ambition of sitting (or at least controlling) the Iron Throne.

In this, he took Sansa Stark under his wing, until his deceits were discovered and he was executed for his crimes. He truly was one of the best and most-hated characters on the show. In this picture is a version of the ‘60s Volvo Amazon 121 that he drives.

8 Kristofer Hivju – Porsche Boxster

via zimbio.com

Norwegian actor Kristofer Hivju plays the fan favorite Tormund Giantsbane on the show, a renowned warrior and raider of the Free Folk wildlings, and one of the key leaders behind the King-Beyond-the-Wall, Mance Rayder. He originally believed Mance to be the man that would lead them through the Long Night, but after Mance was taken out, he believed the prophesied warrior was his enemy-turned-friend, Jon Snow, who he now follows (though we don’t know what’s happened to him since the end of Season 7, unfortunately).

Despite looking like a mean viking, Kristofer is a hilarious guy off-camera, who drives a Porsche Boxster and frequently makes funny videos with his other mean-guy-looking friend, actor Rory McCann, aka Gregore Clegane, aka The Hound.

7 Charles Dance – 1967 Ford Mustang

via essex mustang centre

Charles Dance played the ruthless and powerful head of House Lannister, Lord Tywin Lannister, the father to the current Queen, Cersei, and her twin brother Jaime, as well as the father of his most-hated son and eventual-killer, Tyrion. He was Hand of the King for three different kings, and Protector of the Realm, and regularly defeated enemies on the battlefield. But ultimately his ruthless ways got the better of him as he pissed off the wrong son, slept with that son’s lover, and was met with a couple crossbow bolts through the chest as he sat on the toilet.

In real life, Charles Dance is much nicer and has a beautiful cherry-red 1967 Ford Mustang that he drives around in.

6 Pedro Pascal – Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class

via justjared.com

Pedro Pascal shot to stardom after playing Oberyn Martell in the fourth season of Game of Thrones, and then he moved on to become the main character in the Netflix blockbuster show, Narcos. In Game of Thrones, Prince Oberyn Martell was the good-looking lord of Dorne known as the Red Viper of Dorne, and was the father of eight out-of-wedlock girls known as the Sand Snakes. He eventually agreed to fight for Tyrion Lannister in a trial-by-combat, to win the dwarf’s freedom from his father Tywin. He fought The Mountain, Gregor Clegane, who had done awful things to his sister Elia Martell and her children, and was going to win, but then he got cocky and got his head popped like a watermelon, much to the shock and awe of viewers everywhere. Pedro Pascal drives a sleek Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class, as he’s pictured leaving here.

5 Tom Wlaschiha – Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio

via tomwlaschihafanpage.tumblr.com

Tom Wlaschiha is a German actor who plays the mysterious Jaqen H’ghar in the second, fifth, and sixth seasons of Game of Thrones. He is famous for being a heartless, powerful assassin that no one seems able to take out, as well as the ruthless trainer of Arya Stark when she comes to the House of Black and White to become a Faceless Man.

Here is Wlaschiha pictured with a new, cherry-red Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.

In reality, no one knows who this guy is, because “Jaqen H’ghar” is just an assumed identity of one of the Faceless Men. He is famous for the oft-repeated quote, “Valar Morghulis,” which translates to “All men must die” in High Valyrian. I expect we haven’t seen the last of this mysterious character.

4 Diana Rigg – Lotus Elan

via bestcarmag

Even people who watch Game of Thrones might be shocked to learn that the old lady who plays Lady Olenna Tyrell was actually a bombshell Bond girl in the past (and his WIFE), Countess Teresa di Vicenzo from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969), as well as Emma Peel in the 1960s TV series, The Avengers (no relation to the Marvel films). On Game of Thrones, Lady Olenna is the merciless, callous, and cunning (but not heartless) matriarch of House Tyrell, a plotter and schemer to her dying day. She was known for her wit, sarcasm, and as the Wizard Behind the Green Screen, as it were, during her granddaughter Margaery’s shortlived queendom. Before being taken out peacefully by Jaime Lannister, she reveals that she was the one who ended his son Joffrey at the Purple Wedding.

Here is Diana shown riding a Lotus Elas from the ‘60s, during her time on The Avengers.

3 Jack Gleeson – Mercedes E-Class

via weheartit.com

Before there was Ramsay Bolton or Queen Cersei to hate, there was the original awful character and the most hated person in the Game of Thrones galaxy, King Joffrey Baratheon. He was the second Baratheon king to sit on the Iron Throne, the eldest son of Robert (but the actual son of Cersei and Jaime Lannister), and he was eventually poisoned at the iconic “Purple Wedding,” when his shenanigans had become too much. It was eventually revealed that he was poisoned by Lady Olenna Tyrell and not his uncle Tyrion, as was thought for a long time. Since his departure from Game of Thrones, actor Jack Gleeson has escaped the celebrity of Hollywood and has become a theatre producer and actor. He drives a Mercedes-Benz E-Class, as shown here.

2 Rose Leslie – Infiniti Q60

via guide auto

Rose Leslie played the fiery redhead woman of the Free Folk, Ygritte. She lived in squalor north of the Wall and was originally part of Mance Rayder’s wildling army. Ygritte became Jon Snow’s lover for a time, before meeting a grisly end at the hands of a young Night’s Watchman, Olly. She was an idealist, famous for thinking that because wildlings and Northerners both claimed descent from the First Men, they shouldn’t be fighting. She’s also famous for reminding Jon over and over that, “You know nothing, Jon Snow.” In real life, she is Kit Harington’s (Jon Snow’s) partner, which is just too cute, and she drives an Infiniti Q60.

1 Emilia Clarke – Mercedes-Benz 380 SL

[caption id="attachment_57474" align="alignnone" width="2858"] via shutterstockimg.com[/caption]

Emilia Clarke plays the character Daenerys Targaryen, Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons, Widow of Khal Drogo, and probably the most-popular cosplay character for women of the last five years. She is an absolutely awesome, impervious to fire, paternal aunt and lover of Jon Snow.

Recently, she and four other stars, the “Tier A” characters, reportedly negotiated a record-setting contract to earn £2 million per episode (via The Express), the most of any TV star in history. And this comes after she earned a reported $500,000 per episode before. She drives many cars, including an Audi A8, Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class, Aston Martin DB9, and pictured here (though much younger) on her classic Mercedes-Benz 380 SL.
