Ever since it started releasing films in 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has also been featuring some iconic Marvel movie rides. These even include supercharged cars that even rival the Batmobile.
Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Marvel actors are also known to drive all sorts of cars. Some may opt for something fast and flashy. On the other hand, there are also those who prefer something simpler and more practical. In addition, there are also those who drive cars that leave less carbon footprint. Just take a look at these MCU stars and the cars they drive in real life:
10 Chris Pratt, Volkswagen Beetle
As fans would know, Pratt, who plays Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the MCU, is an actor who came from humble beginnings. And when it comes to cars, he seems to like to keep things simple too. In fact, he is a proud owner of a Volkswagen Beetle.
According to a report from Page Six, the actor was even spotted washing his car earlier this year. Even today, the Beetle remains one of the most iconic cars that Volkswagen has ever released. And when the carmaker decided to stop its production, many wondered if Volkswagen would ever bring the Beetle back.
9 Elizabeth Olsen, Toyota Prius
For quite some time now, Olsen, who portrays Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff in the MCU, has been seen driving around town in her reliable black Prius. In fact, last year, the actress was spotted waiting in her car while her fiancé, Robbie Arnett, was getting coffee in Studio City, according to Celebs First.
The Prius is one of the earliest hybrids to ever hit the market. And although it's developed quite a celebrity following, many also say that the car’s appearance is rather boring. That said, perhaps you’d appreciate Toyota’s Prius concept with 50’s era tailfins.
8 Tom Hiddleston, Jaguar F-Type
Hiddleston, who has long portrayed Loki in the MCU, got his big break back in 2001. And when the money he made, he treated himself to a Peugeot 106 1.1. Hiddleston said he drove it for years until fate intervened.
At some point in his career, the actor started starring in Jaguar commercials and this allowed him to update his ride to a Jaguar F-Type, a car which he “temporarily owns.” When asked about the car, Hiddleston told Bustle, “It's huge fun to drive.” In case you’re interested, the 2021 F-Type sports a meaner look and greater value.
7 Anthony Mackie, Dodge Challenger
Mackie, who portrays Falcon, has been known to cruise around in his Challenger. Unfortunately, it’s the very car that he was also driving when he got arrested in 2013. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the actor was charged with driving while intoxicated after officers pulled over his 2010 Challenger, and Mackie appeared intoxicated.
That said, we’re not surprised that Mackie would drive a Challenger as it is still one of the most popular muscle cars around. This may be largely due to the Challenger’s Hellcat engine.
6 Chadwick Boseman, Lexus LC 500h
It’s safe to say that Boseman rose to fame after being cast as the Black Panther in the MCU. And according to MTO News, the actor splurged on an LC 500h with his first paycheck. His ride reportedly costs a cool $150,000.
Today, you can own the 2021 LC 500 for a starting price of $92,950. The car comes with a lot of options that you can refer to to customize your ride. And if you’re not sure how to work on yours, check out how Hotcars builds its very own 2021 Lexus LC 500.
5 Mark Ruffalo, Volvo Station Wagon
Just like his MCU character, Bruce Banner, Ruffalo likes to keep things on the down low whenever possible (unless he can’t help it). Case in point is his choice of a Volvo station wagon as his daily driver. We’re just unclear if this happens to be a V60 or a V90.
Interestingly though, the actor did say he was looking to change his ride soon enough. While speaking to Urban Daddy, Ruffalo remarked, “I’m number 6,345 on the Tesla Coupe S list.” Let’s hope Ruffalo got his Tesla already.
4 Chris Hemsworth, Audi Q7
As you know, Hemsworth, who portrays the legendary Thor, is a family man at heart. And so, it makes sense that he and his wife, actress Elsa Pataky, have opted to get the Q7. At the same time, Hemsworth more likely chose the car because he was also named brand ambassador for Audi Australia.
In a press statement, Audi Australia Managing Director, Andrew Doyle, remarked, “Not only is Chris one of our most successful and talented acting exports, he’s a laidback Australian family man who epitomizes the true essence of Audi style and sophistication."
3 Scarlett Johansson, Mercedes-Benz GLE 350
Just like a lot of the other Marvel actors, Johansson is also a parent who likes to keep things practical when it comes to cars. That may explain why her choice of a daily driver is a Mercedes-Benz GLE 350. And if you must know, she even personally cleans her car whenever possible.
In fact, she was spotted doing just that in The Hamptons back in June, according to Daily Mail. In case you’re interested, the 2020 GLE 350 comes with a starting price of $54,250. That gets you a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 255 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.
2 Chris Evans, 1967 Chevy Camaro
After years of working together, Evans, who has portrayed Captain America, has developed a close friendship with co-star Robert Downey, Jr., who has portrayed Iron Man. And so, at some point, Downey thought of gifting Evans a customized 1967 Camaro that features Captain America’s iconic shield on the steering wheel.
According to a report from CNBC, Downey’s gift is estimated to be worth a cool $275,000. A spokesperson from Edmunds also told the publications that “just the cost of the wheels, suspension, engine, seats, supercharger and gauges alone would be around $33,000.”
1 Robert Downey, Jr., Ferrari California T
When it comes to cars, Downey doesn’t mess around. In fact, the veteran actor boasts of quite an impressive car collection, which includes a blue Ferrari California T. This two-door convertible boasts of a 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbocharged engine that cranks out 553 brake horsepower.
Admittedly, Downey says the car is a lot of more fun to drive than Tony Stark’s sports car in the movies. During an interview with GQ, he even remarked, “In real life, any Ferrari is more exciting than Tony Stark’s Audi R8.”
