When deciding between what modern American muscle car to get, you're (more or less) left with three mainstream options: the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, or Dodge Challenger. Whatever you go with, you may want to do some extra modifications. Both to increase horsepower, visual appearance, and so on.

For those of you who picked the Challenger, we've got exactly what you're looking for. "What may that be?" you ask. Of course, it's the greatest instances of modded Dodge Challengers; all years and packages.

After all, the best way to lead is by example, so let's go over what (to us) are the sickest examples of modified Dodge Challengers...

15 Gas Monkey Garage’s 1971 Challenger 392 SRT Hemi

Muscle Car Definition

The original 1970s Dodge Challengers are (arguably) the greatest looking of their kind. Yet, the engines of yesteryear are nothing compared to those of today. But, what happens when you combine the best of both worlds: a 1971 body with a 2019 392 SRT Hemi? Before you try to find out yourself, Gas Monkey Garage has already beaten you to it.

Honestly, this is one of the best engine swaps we've seen in quite some time, which is really saying something. If you can afford it (and have the time), definitely consider going this route.

The Drive

What do you get when you mix a rebooted Dodge Challenger with a classic Dodge Charger Daytona? Well, you get this: a 2013 Dodge Challenger 'Daytona.' Although not officially a Daytona, this body kit sure does make it look like one, albeit a bit pudgier than before. We know that not everybody loves this kit, but we thing it's creative enough to get an honorable mention.

13 Avant-Garde Dodge Challenger SRT

This Challenger, right here, goes to show that you don't always need to be "over-the-top" to stand out. A clean white paint, lowered suspension, Avant-Garde gold rims, and a front splitter is plenty enough to have a unique looking car. So, even if you don't have much, know that your Challenger can still look just as good.

12 Rust-Wrapped Dodge Challenger

If you'd have told us that a rusted out Dodge Challenger would look good, we'd scoff at the prospect. This wrapped Challenger, however, has us rethinking that. We've seen rusted-wrapped sports cars before, but we never thought it'd be so appealing on a Dodge. Still, we're happy to be wrong!

11 #GRIDLIFE Dodge Challenger

"#GRIDLIFE" is the culmination of every racer's dream of heaven; a place dedicated to every form of racing under the sun (i.e. drifting, racing, time-attack, and more). GRIDLIFE is a wonderful place to see new cars, as well as test out your own. As far as Challengers are concerned, though, this one easily takes the cake. The aggressive aero-kit and huge spoiler just scream "Need for Speed" to us!

10 1971 Dodge Challenger Dick Landy

In honor of one of Dodge's best racers at the time, Dick Landy, the company decided to make special one-off's of their Challenger sports car. The car was stripped, refitted to race spec, and sold to the world. Only a handful of these tuned track toys were made, one of which can be seen here. Thanks to the legend Dick Landy, we get another muscle car to drool over.

We saw what a classic Challenger with a new SRT engine at the helm's like, however, Rides By Kam showed us what happens when you modernize more than just the power source. This 1970 Challenger has been completely redone, all the way down to the headlights and upholstery. With all that in mind, the title of 'Havoc' is more than appropriate for this low-'n-fast demon (no pun intended).

Carscoops

Ever since Dodge brought the Challenger back in 2008, fans have been waiting with bated breath to see if they'd make a convertible alternative. Although Dodge had done so in the past, none have been confirmed for the newer versions.

Nonetheless, that doesn't stop enthusiasts with deep pockets from making their own. Thus, we get Challengers like the one pictured above. It seems a vert. SRT Demon isn't impossible, after all...

Next up is another earlier-style third-gen. Challenger. This one, though, is kitted out; and we mean seriously outfitted. Besides the obvious Liberty Walk body kit, Morfin upgraded the suspension, rims, safety, stereos, etc. All that hard work earned Mr. Morfin PASMAG's Tuner Battleground 'Elite Tuner' award in 2019.

6 Jason Lowery's 'Killer Bee' Challenger

We know that we've said how cool a nice spoiler can be, but the same can also be said about the inverse: no spoiler. Jason Lowery (owner of the Challenger above) happened to believe the latter, opting for a low and sleek aesthetic. With the white and black, mixed with hints of yellow, Lowery (appropriately) named his the 'Killer Bee.'

5 Richard Petty Dodge Challenger RT

Similar to the Dick Landy Challenger before, we have yet another muscle car inspired by a top-class racing driver. This time, though, it's Richard Petty and his trademarked blue "43." With the stickers, paint, and mods, this copy looks like it could be on an oval-track somewhere, piloted by none other than the man its referencing. Ah well, we can dream...

Being a professional race car driver, stunt man, and Formula Drift champion has some perks, not the least of which is the assortment of awesome cars to drive! That, dear reader, is Samuel Hübinette's life: a skilled driver in nearly every category.

Pictured above is one of Hübinette's Formula-D rides, a third-generation Dodge Challenger. Now, who said muscle cars couldn't turn?

3 Richard Schmidt's 1970 Dodge Challenger RT Convertible

Doing research on this Challenger is like cutting onions; essentially forcing tears out of those nearby. The reason behind this is Richard Schmidt's story surrounding his '70 Dodge Challenger convertible. A Hagerty video brought this tale to light; a love story between Richard, his wife, and his children. After becoming a widower, Schmidt eventually got their old Challenger restored, all in his wife's memory.

Other than the touching lore behind this 1970 Challenger, this restoration is all the modification it needs. Brought back to its original state where it will stay for the rest of its life: with the Schmidt family.

Looks pretty standard, right? Nothing is that different from the outside, that is until you see the rear tires. If that wasn't a dead giveaway, a cursory glance at its power output will quickly show what this Challenger is for: drag racing. The owner, Albasinii10, has managed to make a Challenger that's not over-modded on the outside, whilst still being capable of eating anyone who'd stand in its way. Props to you, sir!

autoevolution

This modded Challenger caught our eye very recently. When RDB LA (an automotive shop in Los Angeles) released a video on YouTube showcasing this multi-colored beast, it was love at first sight! Nicknamed the 'Cappuccino,' this wide-bodied Demon is slammed, cranked up, and eye-catching. Something about the fading creme colors just really works with the Challenger and we hope to see more like it.
