Kawasaki and Bimota have a big surprise coming in the boutique motorcycle market, it's an H2-powered Tesi! Bimota has built forkless sportbikes from 1989 until it shut its doors in 2017. Most of them were powered by Ducati V-twin engines both the high output modern design variants and the lighter air-oil cooled models from the 80s.

When Bimota quietly restarted, their website made no mention of Kawasaki injecting a large amount of cash into tier production. Instead, their website made claims they would start producing their 2017 model line with appropriate updates. Well, they kind of snuck one by the goalie and spawned this little gem! How does a lightweight forkless Tesi H2 model with the supercharged liter Kawasaki engine strike you?

Rumors had been circulating since 2019 that Bimota would open its doors again after closure in 2017. It had been stated there was a cash injection from a foreign source.

They did have a functional website that listed their 2017 line as being for sale along with a history of the company up to the end of May 2020, it's model lines since its inception, and how to contact a seller. Well, they kind of held back the big news! They want to have something that can run with a V4 Panigale, and it looks like they'll have it.

This bike started teasing writers and high-end buyers in the last quarter of 2019, but many thought it would never go into production and was just there to tease buyers of other models.

According to Road Racing World, it was actually Kawasaki of Europe that quietly fielded the pre-production model shown here at the EICMA show in Milan Italy according to a magazine article published on November 8, 2019, by an anonymous writer.

See those beautiful 4 downpipes coming from behind that incredible hub center steering? Maybe you noticed the guide rods to the steering along with the control rod to keep the front calipers in place.

You are looking at aero-space technology that didn't exist before the 1990s and now it has double the power of earlier versions, in a lightweight package that doesn't shift weight forward (much) when braking.  Pretty nifty the way the radiator is hidden away from view don't you think?

According to Canada Motor Guide, November 6, 2019, the preload adjusters were spotted on the pre-production bike right under the seat allowing the operator to tune the bike for dive and squat while underway fro track adjustments both fore and aft!

Notice the omnipresent use of Carbon Fiber that has been a Bimota theme for over 30 years. While these bikes don't have a hand made feel, they do always have a technology as art feel to every one of their models and they always have.

According to Visordown Dec 16, 2019, Bimota spent the last quarter of 2019 checking operation of the test mule series and making changes to it when finding any deficiencies. Kawasaki admitted to buying a 49% share of the company and cross-breeding their technology between the two companies to give Bimota a shot in the arm.

Kawasaki also admitted that they are co-designing an upcoming model with Bimota called the KB4, they were very hush-hush about the specifics as to what it will be like.

5 Possible Bimota KB4, Or Bad Guess

This mystery bike was mislabeled as a current Bimota Tesi 3D Standard, which, in fact, was a late model Ducati air/oil-cooled ultra-light sportbike using a current 1100C.C. engine. Other articles claim this bike (called a 2019 Tesi 3d RaceCafe) has an 803 c.C. engine plucked from the Scrambler line.

We call shenanigans on that guess because nobody would bother to create tooling for a bike then trash it, as the loss would be horrific in costs at a time that you are trying to raise capital. We think this is a rendering of an actual bike that hasn't been produced yet, but may certainly see the light of day soon as another model. It was not on their website as an available model during May 2020.

This bike was supposed to be built back in 2015 as 1 of 40 made, it finally left the shop in 2019. You see our point here, nobody would kill their design and tooling without recouping some of the losses by producing models before they scrap everything for entirely new models, so yes you will see other Tesi series which were still listed as currently for sale as of last month on their website.

We think Bimota is going to attempt to rev up production and produce more than 1 model of forkless cycles in the near future.

Using only 99 H.P. from its old-style Ducati engine but weighing in at a featherweight 360 LBS. this bike was another of the last series, and we think Bimota will be making the twin powered bikes as well as the incredible H2 series.

These bikes are rolling works of art and people are willing to spend vast sums of money to own them, so we think that the model line will be updating some of these models as well.

Bimota has made high-powered bikes with engines other than V-twins in the past. Here is one of their more popular models from 25 years ago. They claimed a ridiculously low weight of around 430 LBS. for a GSXR 1100 based bike that sold very well.

They've also sourced powerplants in the form of 500C.C. 2-stroke G.P. engines, and they even have used Harley putt-putt engines as well, so they aren't married to Ducati V-Twins and the new Tesi is their high-water-mark in terms of performance with the DB6 shown here as a close second.

Kawasaki also got some technology they sourced from Bimota in terms of active suspension controls and dive prevention when they created the SX SE Plus variant for the H2 for 2019.

The bike increased manageability enough that it is now rated as a sports touring model as well. Supposedly the RPM range was lowered for the same output allowing easier manipulation by the rider. So the relationship between both companies is a win/win.
