The CT4-V Blackwing is a prime example of Cadillac’s V-series sedan, which has been in production since 2004. Branded as “the most powerful Cadillac ever in its class”, the 4-door Blackwing offers a top speed of over 189mph and performance perks such as integrated launch control.

CT4-V features a reinforced chassis and track-ready capabilities from the factory. It builds upon classic Cadillac styling with the addition of track-inspired elements and a luxury interior. The CT4-V, a slightly less powerful version of the CT5, will be released in late 2021 for a 2022 release. Here’s a more in-depth look at what we know so far.

GM engineers chose to implement a 3.6L twin-turbo V6 to serve as the powerplant for the CT4-V. With this engine it is capable of 472hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with the option of a 10-speed. This is more modest in comparison to the CT5, which achieves 668hp and 659lb-ft of torque with a 6.2L, supercharged V8.

The chassis has been reinforced to provide extra durability and strength, complemented by high-strength forged aluminum wheels and Brembo brakes. According to some sources, both CT4 and CT5 Blackwings will have the option of lightweight magnesium wheels. “In our testing, magnesium alloy wheels produced a better ride quality due to its vibration dampening”, said Cadillac in a conversation with Car and Driver.

On both editions of the Blackwing, a special grille provides more airflow to cooling systems, and a front splitter and rear spoiler provide traction enhancements.
