Doug DeMuroDoug DeMuro loves to check out all the weird quirks and curiosities of various cars. It is his specialty. And he always finds some great quirks in both more commonplace cars, and cars that are rarer. One of his latest videos sees him take a look at the very rare and interesting sports car, the TVR Chimaera. This particular example is actually on sale on DeMuro’s auction site “Cars and Bids.” This is certainly one of the quirkiest cars Doug has ever looked at.

Talking All Things Chimaera

We all know about TVR and how they were a bit mad, but could produce a great car. The Chimaera was TVR’s most popular model throughout the 1990s. It has V8 power, manual transmission and is rear-wheel drive. And one quirk with this particular Chimaera is that it comes with an Audi/Volkswagen key fob that a previous owner programmed with the car. DeMuro points out another weird quirk that is immediately obvious —a window frame, for a quarter window that doesn’t exist. And it’s a bit of a risky thing to have on the car as it is quite sharp. Why is it there? Who knows!

The Weirdness Just Continues

The weirdness with the TVR just continues with the cigarette lighter on the inside of the driver's door. Not in the center console, but in the driver's door. Very strange indeed. As is the personal ashtray for the driver too. We could spend all day talking about the interior quirks, such as the fact that when you use the turn signals, the interior indicator blinks on the passenger side of the center console. We told you TVR were a bit crazy. DeMuro moves to the outside of the car and shows us how weird opening the trunk is. You have to open the driver's side of the car, push a button inside, but the engine has to be running as it is an electronic button.

One Of The Quirkiest Cars You Can Find

That weird quirk makes using the truck doubly irritating, as it is actually quite a large trunk with plenty of room. Moving to the front of the car, DeMuro checks out the hood. He points out the turned up edges of the hood panel, and the holes for heat dissipation under the hood. A very weird feature. Something DeMuro does really like under the hood is the VIN label with the etching of the engine number, VIN itself and the body code which is all handwritten. A very cool feature for a very weird yet also cool car.
