The Tesla Model 3 has been around for much longer than the freshly brewed Genesis GV60. It was only two years before the Model 3 came out that Genesis Motors was conceived. This also gave Tesla a lot of time to streamline and position the Model 3 as the most affordable offering in its fleet.

But Genesis has a record of dropping late and smashing hard. And that is exactly what they plan on doing with the all-new 2023 GV60. The bold Korean car might not have the on-road experience as the Model 3, but it elevates the driving experience with a more rewarding and luxurious interior, more cool technology features, and a radical new look.

Despite its aggressive pricing, the GV60 still doesn't quite cut it as compared to the Model 3, but the extra dollars are well worth it. Genesis GV60 is in a different league as it is a luxury EV. But we all know how the new wave of 2022 electric cars is redefining what luxury truly is.

We will tell you how this newbie from Genesis stacks up against the most-experienced EV out there.

The 2022 Tesla Model 3 is offered in three trim levels - base RWD, Long Range AWD, and Performance AWD. It starts with an MSRP of $39,640 for the base trim and tops out at $55,640 for the top-spec trim. The 2023 Genesis GV60 has a simpler two trim packages with Advanced AWD and Performance AWD. The prior starts with an MSRP of $58,890 and the latter take things up to $67,890.

AWD is standard for the Genesis GV60, and the base trim packs 314 hp. But the Performance trim is what spices things up with 429 hp. It also comes with a Boost driving mode that can dial the number up to 483 hp temporarily. In its most powerful state, the GV60 can do 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds.

On the other side, the Tesla Model 3 in its RWD base format is humble with 279 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. But with the AWD layout, the numbers go up to 450 hp. This is impressive for a car that looks like ice-cream frosting. In its most powerful state, the Model 3 does 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds.

And GV60 loses a point here because while the Genesis is "sometimes" powerful, Tesla Model 3 is "always" the more powerful EV of the two.

Hands down, the Genesis GV60 is better built and premium that the bland Tesla Model 3 interior. Unique design features also help elevate the experience in this Genesis. The materials used are of the finest quality and the GV60 packs some novel technology features like fingerprint unlocking and facial recognition. The coolest interior feature has to be the crystal ball in the center console which flips around to reveal the gear selector.

Tesla was the automaker that made minimalism the cool factor with its cars. The Model 3 continues to flaunt a minimal white-black layout with a huge 15-inch touchscreen as the only display unit on the dash.

But it is a bit too simple and people have started to get bored with it, thanks to exciting cabin options from competitors including the Genesis GV60. But credit where it is due, we don't think that any other automaker has fused complex software and simplified aesthetics so beautifully as Teslas.

With a sporty coupe-SUV design language and a radical front fascia, the Genesis GV60 is surely the one to turn more heads among these two SUVs. The signature split-headlamp design and an electrified evolution of Genesis' bold shield grille are the main visual attractions here. Those cool 20- or 21-inch wheels and the cool lip spoiler add to the drama further.

Things are much simpler and familiar on the Tesla Model 3. The design hasn't changed much over the years, but the smooth bodywork with minimal sharp elements truly adds to the Model 3's unique visual appeal. Being a low-slung sedan, the 3 also doesn't have to work hard to look sporty. But it bows down in front of the GV60's fresh outlook.

Tesla has been at this game for quite some time now. But the all-new Genesis GV60 is showing people that things don't always have to be simple and low-slung. Tesla has the upper hand when it comes to pricing, trim options, and even performance. But the 3's triumph car is its charging infrastructure that is hard to beat.

But Genesis is making a bold run and expanding fast. Also, it puts up a more lavish experience when it comes to technology and interior experience. So, for the time being, the Model 3 is the more well-rounded sensible option, but the GV60 with its superior experience is catching up fast, very fast! It also drifts!
