The Honda Civic Si has always packed a punch for buyers who want a little bit of it all — a touch of luxury, space, and practicality, and even a little bit of a sporty driving experience. But, you know the old adage that says "jack of all trades, master of none?" Well, Doug DeMuro in a video shared on his YouTube channel seems to agree, because the 2022 Honda Civic Si has one glaring shortcoming.

The 2022 Honda Civic Si's Hidden Feature For Sports Car Enthusiasts

The Honda Civic has always ranged in versatility, offering a handful of options to meet the needs of a variety of buyers at different price points. For many years, the Si trim level has represented the sportier, performance-focused option for the model without sacrificing comfort and practicality. What makes it stand out from the competition is that even the latest 2022 model is offered as a 6-speed manual transmission with no option for an automatic — a hidden gem in a shrinking market of manual transmission sports cars.

Power And Performance Don't Balance The Practicality

Although muscle car owners and V8 enthusiasts may be disappointed by the 200 hp offered by the 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, drivers have yet to be disappointed with the car's pep. Paired with the turbocharger, the 4-cylinder engine is just enough spunk to enjoy on a daily commute, around town, or even down the highway, without compromising a responsible fuel economy. This is, however, a letdown in comparison to other comparable models.

In fact, in comparison to the previous model year, the 2022 Civic Si has less horsepower — although not by much, the outgoing model only boasted 205 hp. If you've been juggling between this sports sedan in comparison to others, the power may be where the car falls short.

What the 2022 Honda Civic Si makes up for in offering a manual transmission and turbocharged engine it lacks in driving aids and basic features. This trim, although not the base model, lacks a handful of luxuries and amenities you'd expect from any new car — even if at least as an option. Power seats, for example, aren't available for the Si, and winter drivers will be disappointed to hear that there is also no option for heated seats or a heated steering wheel.

The list of what the car lacks in comparison to other sporty sedans of the same price-range is actually a bit surprising. The 2022 Honda Civic Si doesn't offer: dual zone climate control, wireless charging, navigation capabilities. It does, however, offer the bare minimum such as USB charging ports, forward collision mitigation, blind spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist.

Despite the lacking features and amenities and lack of power the 2022 Honda Civic Si gives drivers the basics for a manual-transmission sports car, and, for the price, not much else. However, for drivers looking to keep things simple, it may be the perfect purchase with a economical starting price of $27,300.
