The Porsche 911 GT3 RS and the McLaren 600LT are both serious sports cars made for serious track use by serious companies. Both cars have a lot of pedigree, with both manufacturers having a very strong motorsport record. One is a multiple-time F1 champion and the other a LeMans champion with several wins under its belt.

Both brands are very keen on downforce and engineering and both have crafted some of the very best sports cars ever made. It is really Germany vs the UK. Two greats go head to head with two of their greatest cars.

10 Why We'd Buy A GT3 RS: The Pedigree

The Porsche brand has a lot of pedigree. It has nineteen LeMans victories under its belt, they even have two Paris-Dakar rally championships. Porsche is also the world's largest manufacturer of race cars.  The 911 has been made since 1963 and has sold over a million units. There have been six 911 GT3 RS variants over three generations.

via Car and Driver

If you want a car that has been tweaked and perfected for almost 58 years then the GT3 RS is the one to get. It is rich in history, and it's even lapped the Nürburgring in 6:56:04 which is insanely fast! It's easily one of the fastest Porsches ever made.

9 Why The 600LT Is Better: The Top Mounted Exhausts

The exhausts on the 600LT are awesome. It is the only car right now on sale that has top-mounted exhausts. They are there to save weight, make more noise, and provide better aerodynamics. Rather than stick the exhaust pipes in a cut-out part in the diffuser, McLaren has put them just over the transmission housing.

This allows the rear diffuser to be untampered with, thus McLaren can create a more aerodynamic design. The rear diffuser is like one found on a race-car. It's big, and it allows the car to have more downforce. Though there are several Hennessey tuned vehicles we'd buy over the 600LT, this is still an awesome feature!

8 Why We'd Buy A GT3 RS: The Engine

The V8 in the McLaren is a great engine with roots back to the McLaren P1. However, it isn't anywhere near as good as the natural aspirated 4.0 flat-6 used in the GT3 RS. We all love a naturally aspirated engine for their purity.

The noise isn't altered either so this car can scream past 9000 RPM and past the higher revs, the flaps open, so it really does burst your ears. It almost sounds like an F1 car at the top end of the rev counter. It may have only 513hp and 347 lb-ft of torque, but it manages to crack 60 in 3 seconds with a top speed of 194 mph.

7 Why The 600LT Is Better: The Looks

The GT3 RS looks nice, but it's nothing like the 600LT. The 600LT is based on the already beautiful 570S, so it starts with an advantage. Whack a carbon fiber body kit on it, a rear-wing, top-mounted exhausts, and a huge diffuser, and it suddenly becomes very wild.

The standard 570s is one of the best entry-level supercars out there so the 600LT must be exceptional. Those dihedral doors are just so cool, even if they are very impractical.

6 Why We'd Buy A GT3 RS: The Brakes

via Top Speed

The 600LT has great brakes, but the GT3 RS has phenomenal brakes. Good brakes really do matter and the GT3 RS is a car that lets you stay off the brake until the last second. Even the steel brakes are very powerful and in fact, are favored by most enthusiasts for track days.

It excels around the track and a big part of that is due to just how advanced the brakes are. The carbon-ceramic brakes (known as Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, or  PCCB) are a hefty option, in fact, they are an almost $10,000 extra on the GT3 RS. However, they are brilliant when they are all warmed up, and they can be really abused.

5 Why The 600LT Is Better: The Interior

The Porsche has a nice interior, but it's not as special as the 600LT's supercar interior that is quite unique and driver-focused. It has several nice touches, including optional Senna seats which are quite large, but they look cool. It's a very comfortable and organized interior and the Bowers and Wilkins sound system beats the Bose system in the Porsche.

Even the gear-shifters feel better as they are larger than the ones in the Porsche. The McLaren's interior feels more like a cockpit, giving off that same fighter jet feeling which the original F1 had.

4 Why We'd Buy A GT3 RS: The Gearbox

Via: www.reddit.com

The McLaren has a brilliant 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox that is very fast indeed. However, the gearbox used in the Porsche is just so much more precise. It's a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission that makes you feel very confident as it changes gears quicker than you can think, and it always feels very secure and precise.

via porsche-qr.de

It can be quite a smooth gearbox when you want it to be, or it can be like a racecar gearbox. It has two very solid clutches and an actual gear shifter rather than just buttons. Furthermore, it's very satisfying getting this car into gear as you can hear the mechanical clunks when you do it.

3 Why The 600LT Is Better: The Performance

via Hennessey

The 600LT is a lot more powerful than the GT3RS. Its 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 pushes out 592hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. That is 79 more horses than the GT3 RS and also 110 more torques. This means it'll do 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 204 mph, which is 10 mph more than the GT3 RS.

via Highsnobiety

The 600LT also has good mid-range power, so it can continue climbing in the upper end. Its two turbochargers have no lag, and they really give that flat-plane V8 a boost when it needs it.

2 Why We'd Buy A GT3 RS: The Build Quality

C/D.com

The build quality of the 600LT isn't great for a $240,000 car. The GT3 RS takes the victory here as it's just so well-built. Everything feels high quality and there are no panel gaps at all. Even the buttons feel mechanical when you press them and all the interior parts feel very expensive.

via www.autoevolution.com

Every modern Porsche has proper build quality, they are precisely put together with every aspect of the car being perfect. It truly is built with care and attention, and it should be, considering the MSRP is $187,500.

1 Why The 600LT Is Better: The Experience

motorauthority.com

The dihedral doors, cockpit-like interior, flame-spitting top-mounted exhaust, etc are all just so special. The 600LT gets a lot of attention as it's a proper supercar and quite outlandish in every way possible. These days, the name McLaren too is equivalent to the likes of automotive royalty, like Ferrari.

Via autoblog.com

Sure the Porsche gives you a great driving experience, but it's nothing like the 600LT with its mid-engined layout and dials and buttons that make you feel more like a pilot than a driver.
