We've always expected the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E to be a hotcake among SUV devotees. With a high level of speed, a fanciful yet spacious interior, and a friendly starting price, there's no way it won't be in high demand. Unfortunately, if you're interested in buying one of these babies, Ford has stopped taking orders.

According to Ford, a longtime player in the American and global automotive industry, it's unable to cope with the increased demand for this amazing crossover SUV. The inability to meet demand is because of a parts scarcity, especially semiconductors.

Upon visiting the Mustang Mach-E page on Ford’s official website, you'll encounter this statement: Due to high demand, the current model year is no longer available for retail orders. Limited inventory may be available at selected dealers. Contact your dealer for more information.

This mini-feature documents the reasons behind Ford’s decision to prevent further orders of the 2022 Mustang Mach-E.

Today, no trim of the Mach-E is available for orders in the US, and we should have been this coming. Sometime in March 2022, Ford announced their decision to cancel future orders for two models of the Mustang Mach-E. The affected trims were the Premium and California Route 1.

According to Ford Authority, the Ford Bible, the automaker decided to close orders early because customers’ increased demand outmatched its supply capabilities. However, it still allowed retail orders for trims like GT, GT Performance Edition, and Select.

We also learned that Ford has struggled to meet the demand for a while owing to a chronic semiconductor deficit and other parts.

In a recent interview with the Detroit Free Press, Ford spokesperson, Emma Bergg confirmed that the automaker closed retail orders because of high demand. And because of a current parts scarcity, it can't produce new units. So, Ford will most likely sell the remaining units and focus on preparing for the 2023 release.

As a panacea, the automaker stated that it'll utilize the Mexico-based Cuautitlan Stamping and Assembly Plant solely for the development of the Mustang Mach -E. By doing so, it hopes to offer consumers more units. According to Bergg, this strategy should expand Ford’s yearly output to 200,000 units of the Mach-E.

While some prospective buyers may choose to wait until Ford delivers on its promise and produces 200,000 units yearly, many may want to jostle for the limited units.

However, that may cause dealerships to jack up prices. While that hasn't been the case in America, the UK has witnessed a substantial rise in Mustang Mach-E prices.
