Few automotive manufacturers are as recognizable and renowned as that of the Italian sports car producer, Ferrari. Since their inception decades ago, when they were strictly set on racing, to today's hypercars, Ferrari never ceases to impress with beautiful cars.

Ferrari's latest groundbreaking vehicle is one that people expected, just, perhaps, not so soon. Of course, we're talking about the Ferrari SF90 Stradale: A hybrid supercar with an "all-electric" setting. After the LaFerrari, it was only a matter of time before Ferrari made another hybrid vehicle. This time, though, the hybrid isn't just for performance enhancements, but lower emissions and better efficiency.

If the SF90 Stradale is unveiled with the figures they say it'll have, then the supercar and hypercar industry are in for a brutal shake-up of the status quo; beating the more expensive LaFerrari and costing much less in the meantime. To showcase the SF90's greatness and (Potentially) revolutionary power, here's why we think the SF90 Stradale will revolutionize the hypercar industry...

To properly grasp why the SF90 is so highly praised, it's best to check out the vehicle's unique specifications. In the Ferrari SF90 Stradale's case, it's quite impressive. Emphasized by three electric motors throughout the vehicle, the Ferrari 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged, V8 puts out nearly 1,000 horsepower!

Adding to that wild figure, the SF90 Stradale has the latest and greatest technology for downforce and active-aerodynamics. As such, the SF90 has multiple moving body panels (Rear wing, front-end aero, etc.). Ferrari says that the SF90 Stradale, at certain speeds, can max out at around 860 lbs of downforce; pushing the Ferrari into the ground for better traction and stability.

After that, there's really not much else to go on. Ferrari has been very 'hush-hush' about the whole situation and customer models have yet to reach the streets. So, until then, we can speculate based on what's given.

A Historical First

As stated above, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is a "PHEV" (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle). The three electric motors on board are capable of going into all-electric model for many miles; a historic first for Ferrari. It's the best of both worlds: increased performance with higher efficiency!

You may be wondering to yourself, "How come Ferrari didn't make an all-electric car when Porsche, Audi, and McLaren were doing it back in the day? Well, the answer's simple: Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo. Back in 2013, the then Ferrari Chairmen, Montezemolo, said "we will never manufacture an electric car as long as I'm chairman." Obviously, he was a Ferrari purist, which isn't a bad thing. Ferrari just needed to keep up with the changing competition and government regulations. Evidently, he would be dropped in late-2014.

With him no longer in the picture, it's clear why the hybrid/electric program in Ferrari has started to rapidly grow and improve, along with the vehicles that come out of it.

The Quickest Ferrari Yet

Because of the brand new P.H.E.V. technology, Formula One-like aerodynamics, and high power output, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale is projected to be the fastest Ferrari ever made. This is definitely great for Ferrari and enthusiasts, but poses a problem for LaFerrari owners. Some of the hypercar owners feel cheated, especially because the LaFerrari is less powerful, yet, more costly ($2 to $3 million compared to the SF90's $600,000 to $850,000).

Even if they are correct, that just proves how effective hybrid/electric technology is. Once Ferrari decided to go all-out with the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, not much was able to stop them. The competitors can fight, but only with cars double the cost (i.e. McLaren P1, Porsche 918, etc.). The low price (Compared to other supercars and hypercars) and quickness ensure that it'll revolutionize the market and have businesses scrambling to catch up.

All in all, we here at HotCars believe that the use of the 2019 Ferrari F1 car's name (SF90) means they intend to live up to the hype!
