We’ve seen notable car designers and engineers who have worked for big automakers start successful boutique outfits that design amazing cars. Excellent designers like Henrik Fisker of Fisker Inc, James Glickenhaus of Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, and Ferris Rezvani of Rezvani Motors. Often, it is in pursuit of their boyhood dreams, no matter how far-reaching they may seem.

Ferris Rezvani formed Rezvani Motors in 2014 as a boutique designer and manufacturer of exotic cars, and barely a year in existence, the company unveiled the first Rezvani Beast car. The Beast is an ultra-high-performance car for track enthusiasts based on the Ariel Atom and was built to be a street-legal race car. The limited-production car utilizes a lightweight chassis and dependable Honda Racing engines. Instead of developing new products, Rezvani decided to build different versions of the original Beast. They had released three more Beast-based sports cars in just three years, including the Speedster, the Beast X, and the Beast Alpha. Although plenty of the styling is identical across the Beast cars, important features help set the Alpha apart. So, what makes the 2018 Rezvani Beast Alpha an awesome car?

9 Cosworth-Tuned Engine

We have previously covered Cosworth and their awesomely tuned engines featured in some exceptional cars. While the Alpha isn’t on the same wavelength as the mighty hypercars like the Aston Martin Valkyrie or the Gordon Murray Automotive T50, it is a notable project to receive the Cosworth magic. Under the hood is a Rezvani-built and Cosworth-tuned 2.5-liter supercharged mill generating 500 horsepower.

The engine was carefully crafted to provide the ultimate driving thrills while keeping ownership and service costs low.

8 Neck-Snappingly Quick

The innovative and efficient supercharger helped squeeze every ounce of power from the engine, and the 500-horsepower generated gave the Beast Alpha outstanding performance. It can launch to 60mph in just 3.5 seconds with the six-speed manual gearbox, and is even faster in the available sequential automatic, taking 3.2 seconds to attain the same speed. It goes on to reach a maximum speed of 175 mph.

While it is quite fast, there is an extreme 700hp version of the Alpha for when too much is not enough; the Beast Alpha X Blackbird hit 60mph in an incredible 2.9 seconds.

7 Relatively Affordable

When Rezvani premiered the Beast Alpha at the 2016 LA Auto Show, it was expected to come with sticker prices north of $200,000. But it turned out to be more affordable than predicted, with the basic version of this beautiful and unique car starting at $95,000. A more reasonable price and good news to potential buyers, although Rezvani did not explain the massive price drop.

The price does shoot up once you start playing with the available packages, since options are quite costly. For instance, the Sidewinder doors cost $10,000, and opting for the six-speed semi-automatic with paddle shifter will set you back $15,000.

6 Minimalist But Stylish Cabin

Admittedly, the Beast Alpha’s interior might appear quite understated to many. Rezvani took a minimalist, functional approach, but the Alpha is still stylish and is furnished with plenty of modern features. The upholstery is made of fine black leather and Alcantara, and the seats are purposefully built with the right amount of padding for maximum comfort.

The motorsport-inspired LCD instrument cluster will match anything you find in a race car. Also, it comes with a stereo dash with apple car play and android auto, and a drive mode selector to control how much power and stability control intervention you need for your ride.

5 Lightweight Package

The use of composite materials makes the Beast Alpha one of the lightest street-legal sports cars money can buy. Rezvani ditched the Chromoly tubular chassis used on the original Beast and used an Aluminum chassis and clear gloss carbon fiber parts, resulting in a 1,664lb package with a power to weight ratio of 662.3 hp per ton.

It is heavier than the original Beast, but this is due to the addition of new features like air conditioning, airbags, functional doors, and the removable hard-top roof. The lightweight nature also influences the Alpha’s handling and race car dynamics.

4 Aesthetically Pleasing

The Rezvani Beast Alpha has the looks to match its name. Even though the Rezvani brand name is less likely to come up when people discuss sports car manufacturers, the Beast Alpha will definitely turn heads wherever it goes, mostly thanks to the aggressive nature of the exterior and those trademark ‘sidewinder’ doors that are unique to the Alpha.

The doors open out and towards the front, and while they make it easy to step in and out of the car, they make for quite a spectacle.

The Beast Alpha is practically a hard-top take on the original two-seater roadster, with the added feature of a removable enclosure. The Targa-style top is a distinct feature that makes the Alpha unique from its Beast siblings while giving it better aerodynamics. Also, if one feels like cruising under the sun, they can easily take the lid off and quickly turn the Alpha into a roadster.

The Targa-style top was first used and trademarked by Porsche, but numerous iconic sports cars have offered targa-top versions over the years.

Lotus manufactures sports cars and racing cars with a reputation for their lightweight nature and excellent handling capabilities. The top Lotus cars are considered some of the best innovative European sports cars, offering top quality British engineering. The Beast Alpha is glad to carry over some of the qualities that make the Lotus Elise a great car.

While the Beast Alpha isn’t the greatest daily driver on the roads, its Lotus connections give potential owners hope that it is an actual driver’s car that is enjoyable to drive.

1 Only One Alpha

Rezvani’s official site claims there can only be one Alpha, and we agree. The growing lineup of Rezvani Beasts needed a leader, and the Beast Alpha has the right combination of features to help it stand out and claim the alpha role. From the wild looks to the Targa-style top, more robust chassis, and the trademark sidewinder doors, there truly isn’t another Beast like it.

The Beast X is indeed faster than the Beast Alpha, but there is just more going on for the Alpha. Also, you opt for the beefier Alpha X Blackbird, and it will keep up while also bringing those cool backward minivan doors to the party.
