While there are numbered wagons in the market, some are fast with a decent dose of luxury. Genesis the luxury division of Hyundai has also entered the wagon market with the G70 Shooting Brake.

Unfortunately, it's not sold in the US. If the G70 Shooting Brake by any chance steps on the American shores, it will be interesting to see how it fares in the market. The G70 Shooting Brake is more practical than its sedan counterpart with a bigger and cozier cabin, more features, larger cargo trunk, and more muscle. If it's here in the US, it will give a hard time to other wagons.

Genesis G70 Shooting Brake Packs Excellent Performance

The Genesis G70 Shooting Brakes engine differs between countries. For instance, the South Korean model comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 245-hp engine while the European versions have two engine options: a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine with two tunings; a 194 hp tuning and 241 hp tuning as well as a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine offering 197 horsepower and 324.5 lb-ft of torque and better fuel economy.

Both the Korean and European versions of the G70 Shooting Brake feature a 15.8-gallon fuel tank which delivers 426-489 miles on the highway. According to Genesis, the G70 SB can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 6.1 seconds with the turbocharged gasoline engine, but we expect the G70 to hit 60 mph in around 5 seconds when equipped with the twin-turbo V6.

Genesis G70 Shooting Brake Design: A Hunk

The Genesis G70 Shooting Brake is one of the stunning wagons on the market, with an iconic look, making it easily recognizable even from a distance. The G70’s fascia boasts a bold design featuring signature Genesis key design elements. The front looks distinct with bi-strip LED quad lamps and the iconic "Genesis Crest" grill.

Even from the rear, the G70 looks amazing. The longer rear and bulgy look bestow a distinct appearance. Again, the bi-strip design makes its appearance in the tail lamp section, but now it is supported with a GENESIS badge along with a sporty diffuser and two chunky chrome tailpipes below. All in all, the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake can easily seduce with its muscular and modern look.

The G70 Shooting Brake Boasts A Palatial Cabin

Similar to other Genesis cars, the G70 Shooting Brake offers a deluxe cabin to deliver a luxurious treatment. The materials used inside are admirable and beautifully stacked together to deliver an upscale look and feel. The interior features a meaty dashboard upholstered with soft leather and decorated with brushed aluminum trim. The dashboard is slightly canted towards the driver for better ergonomics, and the controls are intuitive.

The cabin seats five passengers. The front features two power bucket seats with lumbar support and a heating function. The lower models feature premium cloth seats, but Genesis offers leather seats in the higher models. The cockpit offers an excellent driving environment for the driver with an 8-inch color cluster and a heated leather steering wheel.

While we are unaware of the exact interior dimensions, we expect the Shooting Brake variant to offer more space than the sedan model. For instance, the sedan offers a 93.8-ft3 cabin, which may increase to at least 100 ft3 in the Shooting Brake model. The front seats will offer the same space with 39.7-inches of headroom and 42.6-inches of legroom.

However, the rear passengers may be offered around 38 inches of headroom and 37 inches of legroom because of the longer body. The seats offer superb comfort with soft padding. The quilted design will keep you cozy. To sum up, we expect the Shooting Brake model to be cozier than the sedan.

The G70 Shooting Brake Is A Practical Diva

According to Genesis, the G70 Shooting Brake will offer 40% more cargo space than its sedan counterpart. Hence, it offers 16.4 ft3 of standard cargo space, which is decent for storing five medium-sized bags. The G70 Shooting Brake offers foldable rear seats as standard, unlike the sedan. Once the rear seats are folded, the wagon offers a massive 54 ft3 of additional cargo space, which can accommodate larger and heavier items inside.

Genesis G70 Shooting Brake Features

The Genesis G70 Shooting Brake is loaded with features. It gets an 8-inch instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a nine-speaker premium audio system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, navigation with voice assist, valet mode, Genesis Car Pay, a wireless phone charger, and many other features.

The cabin offers quilted leather seats, power-adjustable front seats with heating and lumbar support, foldable rear seats, dual-zone automatic AC, a heated and leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, an air purifier, and several other features. Besides, Nappa leather seats, a heads-up display, a 12.3-inch cluster, ventilated front seats, rear heated seats, and a Lexicon premium audio system are available.

In terms of safety, it comes standard with smart cruise control with navigation cruise assist, lane keeping, and the following assist, highway driving assist, driver attention monitor, blindspot collision monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist. A driving assistance package can be had as an optional extra.

With all these features, the G70 Shooting Brake is indeed a great choice in the wagon market and certainly more practical than its sedan sibling. It offers a powerful engine, a muscular exterior, a great set of features, and most importantly, a larger cabin and a bigger cargo trunk.
