So, Chevrolet Camaro? One cool muscle car, right? Now bridging the gap between a muscle and a sports car, and once hailed as the road beast that could spit-and-chew-up a Mustang, without missing a beat.

What do we say to it? The sales have been spiraling down, and the Camaro is no longer as popular as it once was. But even then, there are plenty of Camaro fans out there who appreciate the car for all its highs and lows and are more than willing to buy one, new or used, and sometimes, also modify it into their version of a dream car. If not for real, then at least in imagination, like this modern-day rendition of the original Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z that looks pretty stunning.

And honestly, a widebody Camaro looks gorgeous. Especially when it has been built or rather molded by someone who has no experience with modifications at all. But do remember, any and alterations to any car, including a Camaro, will rack up that insurance, and accordingly, insurance rates.

Doesn’t mean that you should get your dream car though – and this wide-bodied, slammed and gorgeous Camaro in red is what the most epicurean dreams are made up of. Here’s more about it!

First, What Is A Widebody

It is as the name suggests. You take a car and change the body paneling, and basically widen the car from the outside, without making no difference to the inside space. Most of it is done via fender flares and such, although with a good widebody kit you will avoid that RICE’d look that amateurs often end up as when they try too hard to make their cars look like performance.

Almost any car can be turned into a widebody and there are plenty of widebody kits available for each car. Mostly, it’s the sports and muscle car section that tends to be modified the most, along with, of course, the JDMs and classics. Passenger sedans and SUVs don’t really enter the picture. A Camaro fits right in!

And now there is this Chevy Camaro.

It is wide. It is red. And it is pretty cool. So what do we see here? The car is slammed, lowered to within an inch of the ground, and obviously riding on air suspension or something similar so that nothing essential actually touches the ground or is damaged by it.

The red-and-black exteriors look especially good because of the flared and molded widebody kit. The front fascia boasts an exaggerated aerodynamic look with a bold front splitter and rather large canards, the black-colored fins in the corners. The fenders are really wide and flared with deep-dish wheels wearing low-profile tires that fit perfectly under those wheel arches. The rear-end is no less stylish either, with a duckbill spoiler and even more performance with a large black diffuser as well as quad exhaust tips.

And the engine sound is enough to blow you away. The car is by Instagram used lowmaro, which is a play on the lowering, as in slamming of a Camaro and obviously, this is not his first build. It’s a sixth-gen Camaro, and tuned to jet 848 wheel horsepower, and looks so good when it runs over the cobbled pathways, it brings tears to our eyes, even if they are pure drops of envy. Sigh…

Why Is This Racking Up Insurance?

If you too have decided to lowmaro your Camaro, there is insurance to consider. The first thing to know is that before you make any modification to your car, your insurance provider needs to know because if they don’t, your mods may not be covered.

Now, if you do call your insurance provider, know this: your insurance premium is about to climb up, up, and away. Reason one is modifications take the value of the car up, so insuring it becomes more expensive.

Reason two is if the modification to your Camaro or any other car for that matter is so good it makes car jacks salivate at just the thought of it, well, your insurance premiums just climbed up several notches. So if your Camaro looks as good as this Lowmaro, you’re a goner for sure, when it comes to insurance.

Finally, if the modifications on your car make it riskier to be in or around on the road, the premiums climb up again. For instance, the low profile tires on this one mean that a particularly bad road, accompanied with risky driving could seriously harm the suspension if not more. The widebody kit means it could be easier to scrape against other traffic on jam-packed roads. Everything about this car also screams performance so if there is engine tuning in there, there’s more cause of the insurance adjuster to take your premiums as high as this Camaro is low.

So while slamming a Camaro, stancing it, and adding on a widebody kit is a thing of beauty, it’s also a thing of great expense, and we don’t just mean the wads of cash you spent on the modifications. We mean the other wads of cash you will spend insuring it!
