The 1988 Italdesign Aztec was the stuff of ‘80s futurist dreams. Part Tron, part Top Gun, the split-cockpit concept car makes the Tesla Cybertruck look like pure kid's toy. Only a handful of these boundary pushing concept cars ever made it to production, and for those looking to show off their unique design sense, there just happens to be one up for auction on BringATrailer.com right now.

Obviously, the first thing anyone notices are the split driver and passenger seats, which sit behind jet-fighter cockpits and clear, removable roof panels. Anyone, feeling the “need for speed?” Huge skirts cover the back wheels and a hydraulic jack system has been installed underneath the vehicle. Underneath the large side panels there are engine boost gauges that are visible from the outside.

Once inside, drivers will first notice an asymmetrical steering wheel along with a long gauge pod. On top of the pod, a light-up panel reflects to the canopy to provide a heads-up display. The passenger side also gets a steering wheel--it doesn’t work--with a rally computer located behind it. And just to put the icing on the cake, there’s some ‘80s stereo equipment so you can blast Kenny Loggins while speeding down the asphalt.

An inline-five Audi engine produces 247 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is just another addition that should get car lovers gawking. Currently, there are only three days left of the sale of this 1988 Italdesign Aztec and the tag has already ballooned to $105,000, but it’s difficult to put a price on a rare vehicle like this that is one of only a handful ever produced.
