Back before 1998, Lamborghini was all form and a little bit of function. Don't get us wrong, they were still amazingly quick and cool cars, but they weren't reliable by any stretch of the imagination. This, though, would begin to change with Audi's acquisition of Lamborghini; for better or worse.

A lot of Lamborghini purists fought against this change. They argued that the "Lamborghini soul" had been lost and, in its place, was a boring, German, machine. Thankfully, though, that couldn't be further from the truth, as some of Lamborghini's most aggressive models have come out under Audi's control (Murcielago SV, Aventador, etc.). Soon, their next great creation will be available to the world: the Lamborghini Sián.

The Sián is no normal Lamborghini. Sure, it's the successor in the lineup of Lamborghini V12 models, however, it's got an advantage: a hybrid system. With the introduction of hybrid technology into Lamborghini's violent V12, it is sure to be a wild combination, unlike anything we've previously seen. The real question, though, is will it be the best Lamborghini yet? That's what we hope to answer here (in terms of performance, history, value, and so on)...

Lambo's First Hybrid V12

To extract every hint of the potential power from the traditional 6-to-6.3-liter V12 engine, Lamborghini had two options: use turbochargers or 'go green' with a hybrid setup. Obviously, they went with the latter.

As most serious changes go, not everyone liked the idea. Nevertheless, it's necessary to not fall behind the competition, while simultaneously becoming more ecologically-friendly with an increased fuel-economy. Clearly though, Lamborghini is not concerned with improved mpg or emissions ratings. Lamborghini realized that the real prize here is power!

The Sián is the most powerful production Lamborghini ever made: sporting over 785 horsepower and 720 newton-meters-of-torque, thanks to its electric engine giving it a boost. Who knows how much more power is available once dragsters and tuners get their hands on one?!

Unseen Levels Of Performance

The result of the nearly 800-horsepower and 720 lb-ft of torque is a Lamborghini that completely blows its predecessors out of the water. According to Lamborghini themselves, along with several other media sources, the Lamborghini Sián can reach over 220 miles-per-hour.

Not only is this the fastest Lamborghini to roll out of their factory, but its also the first iteration of its model. Similar to the Countach, Diablo, Murcielago, and Aventador before it, the Sián will more than likely get its fair share of upgraded versions as time passes. So naturally, the Sián is only going to get quicker.

If what's important to you is speed, on-track capabilities, and the technical minutia surrounding them, the Lamborghini Sián is plainly Lambo's best work yet. However, that's not the sole reason behind its status...

The Future Of Lamborghini

What we're talking about above isn't so much concerning the horsepower figures and specifications, rather, what the Sián means for the future of Lamborghini, in general. The introduction of a hybrid system does to Lamborghini what bringing back forced-induction did to Ferrari: completely changing the game.

Since Lamborghini has officially embraced hybrid technology, they now have a lot more "wiggle room" in terms of adding hybrid tech to more and more of their models. After all, they've already done it once; virtually ending any sense of taboo.

All in all, the Lamborghini Sián will be remembered for being so much more than just a quick Lamborghini from the early-21st century. Instead, the Sián will be the supercar that pushed Lamborghini into the modern era. Though, nobody is going to forget the awe-inspiring speed and "sharp-as-a-knife" lines/aesthetics, that's for sure! Thousands will call it "the greatest Lamborghini... yet."
