Back in 2009, pro drift driver Vaughn Gittin Jr. founded RTR Vehicles, which is a producer of OEM+ parts for Ford. He brought his drifting and performance skills and knowledge to Ford vehicles such as the Mustang, F-150, and Ranger, and transformed each of them into modded monsters under the moniker of RTR.
The Mustang RTR is the most famous and desirable of these special edition Fords, and muscle car fans have been eagerly awaiting the unveiling of the new S650 Mustang RTR. The wait is finally over. YouTuber StangMode gets an up close and personal preview of this tuned 2024 Mustang in his latest video. And he is not disappointed.
The 2024 Ford Mustang S650 RTR
Stangmode makes a bold claim as this video kicks off. He believes that Vaughn Gittin Jr is a modern-day Caroll Shelby. That’s a highly debatable statement, but Vaughn and the team at RTR Vehicles have certainly done their best with the new 2024 Ford Mustang S650 to elevate themselves into that esteemed company. Jaren Cole, the community manager at RTR, explains that this model has a ton of outstanding upgrades.
The official title of this Mustang is the RTR Spec 2. This lowered model features RTR springs. Jaren also mentions that this model has adjustable sway bars front and rear, and adjustable shocks and struts. On the front fascia are a new signature RTR Mustang grille, all-new upper grille LEDs, and hood vents. The contrast color front splitter has matching side skirts, and this uniform aspect of the car continues to the rear, where there is also a unique rear spoiler and RTR branding.
Being inspired by drift cars, this Mustang S650 does have a focus on handling, and key parts of that are the 20” RTR Aero 5 wheels skinned with NT555 G2 tires and Recaro seats. The S650 RTR also comes with a graphics pack and a unique ID plate. StangMode loves the subtle modifications of this new RTR, specifically the overall stance with the new wheels.
What Is The Performance And Cost Of A 2024 Ford Mustang RTR?
It’s reported that this Spec 2 pack will add $12,495 to the cost of an S650 Mustang. While the Spec 2 won't have the performance of the Spec 5 S550's explosive 750 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque, this new Ford Mustang RTR is a small taste of what is to come from the platform.
