China has the world's largest electric vehicle (EV) market, with EV exports of around 500,000 units in 2021 and a production share of about 57.4% of all EVs produced worldwide. According to CAAM, China sold 3.34 million electric vehicles in 2021, of which 2.73 million were battery-only electric vehicles (BEVs) and 0.6 million were plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

This represents about 53% of the 6.23 million "new energy" passenger vehicles (BEVs, PHEVs, and HEVs) sold globally. Looking at those staggering statistics, you can understand why the all-new XPeng G9 has generated a lot of buzz in the electric car industry. In addition, it also fits perfectly with the sustainable automobile development every country is trying to adopt, in light of global warming.

While there are other noticeable things about XPeng G9, the charging speed has caught the attention of many electric vehicle enthusiasts. The XPeng G9 is the world's fastest charging electric SUV. And when we say fast, we're talking about ridiculous numbers. It's like charging a next-gen smartphone. It can go from 10 to 80% charge in just 15 minutes. Impressive, isn't it?

Let's have a closer look at XPeng G9, the world's fastest charging electric SUV.

Xiaopeng, often known as XPeng Motors, is one of the more well-known Chinese automakers and has only recently entered the electric vehicle (EV) market with its G3 SUV. The P7 sedan followed the G3 in 2019, and both EVs have maintained staples in the XPeng fleet. Since then, the company has grown internationally and offers both EVs in Europe, starting with Norway.

The P5, XPeng's third EV, made its debut last summer and was supposed to follow the other models outside of China in Europe, but the automaker shelved those plans in June, citing supply chain issues. The carmaker formally unveiled the G9, an all-electric SUV with a 200-kilometer range and a 5-minute charge time, in response to reports that began to circulate regarding XPeng's next EV offering in late 2021.

As stated in the autumn, XPeng is currently advertising the G9's amazing charging speeds. The SUV has what XPeng describes as "China's first 800V mass-production Silicon Carbide (SiC) platform" and its revolutionary powertrain technology. This revolutionary technology allows the G9 to charge about 120 miles worth of range in just 5 minutes.

The G9 boasts a reported maximum span of just over 400 miles. However, according to XPeng, the G9's range is the best in its class of medium SUVs. It has a power output of 310 hp on RWD models and 543 hp on AWD models. The XPeng G9 features a top speed of 124 miles per hour. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles in just 6.2 seconds.

In terms of appearance, functionality, or powertrain technology, the XPeng P7 isn't a world-beater but the G9 ticks those boxes with flying colors. XPeng G9 is a competent EV that is swift, silent, and comfortable, like the Tesla Model S car. It also has more opulent interiors and tech features.

The XPeng G9 boasts a high-end interior with a sizable digital space. It is a five-seat car with three independent dashboard displays. The digital instrument panel in front of the driver is one of the displays, and it is tucked in to lessen the glare from the sun.

The other two significantly bigger displays have been combined to appear as a single 14.96-inch panel. The touchscreen display is on the left, and the passenger panel, which is becoming more popular in new luxury vehicles, is on the right. The wraparound form of the streamlined dashboard adds to the impression of space.

A curving bridge-style center console quickly connects this dashboard. It incorporates two-cup holders, a large and narrow AC vent, and two smartphone chargers. The two-spoke steering wheel's flat bottom complements the uncomplicated design beautifully.

The G9 offers almost everything you'd expect from a high-end mid-size electric SUV and its charging technology. Its exterior styling and leather-lined interior are reminiscent of premium automobile names. The G9 has dual-LiDAR and 31 sensors and is controlled by two NVIDIA Orin chips. It also features automatic navigation and parking assistance.

The G9 featuring an 800V electrical design for ultra-fast charging will be XPeng's fourth model. The G9 could be the vehicle adopted to introduce the brand in the United States, although there are currently no concrete plans.

It makes no difference if you're Toyota, Tesla, or any other well-known manufacturer, XPeng is here to compete. The Chinese brand's message is loud and clear: Your next major competitor may be an unheard-of EV automaker producing vehicles that are directly competitive with yours. Only time will tell what becomes of the XPeng G9 SUV.
