Designed by the Japanese automotive manufacturing company Yamaha, the XSR700 has been rolling out since it succeeded the Yamaha XS 650 in March 2016. The motorcycle is designed and developed by the Yamaha team in Japan and Italy, with its design inspired by its predecessor. At the same time, it has a modern technology similar to that of the MT-07. However, the production of the vehicle and its parts are situated in Rouvroy, France.

The 2021 Yamaha XSR700 was announced in November 2020 and was subsequently made available in major dealerships in December 2020. It’s quite similar to the 2020 Yamaha XSR700 as there are minimal mechanical changes made to the 2021 version. Its features and Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) also remain largely unchanged.

The latest version of the vehicle will set you back $8,499. Still, it’s worth every penny since the motorcycle is equipped with the latest technology and a powerful engine.

The DOHC 8-valves, inline twin-cylinder engine of the XSR700 boasts a top speed of 120 mph, with a displacement of 689 cc. Simultaneously, the engine has a maximum torque of 50 lb-ft at 6,500 revolutions per minute (rpm) and a power rating of 74 hp at 9,000 rpm. The engine also has a compact 6-speed transmission system with a specific gear ratio to minimize gear changes and suit the engine's power and torque.

On top of that, there is a 270º shankshaft fired at irregular intervals in the parallel-twin engine of the XSR700, giving out more traction and acceleration. As such, this helps to remove inertia torque and, at the same time, emphasizes the linear torque. The bike also has a fuel tank capacity of 3.7 gallons and estimated consumption of 58 miles-per-hour (mph), with a three-way honeycomb catalyzer in the engine to reduce emissions from the exhaust with a triple expansion muffler design.

The vehicle's frame is a backbone frame type made of high tensile steel, allowing the rider to experience more excellent stability and agile handling. The 10-spoke wheels are manufactured using lightweight cast-aluminum, reducing the unsprung weight and improves suspension and handling. The XSR700 has a wheelbase of 55.3 inches, a rake of 25º, and a trail of 90 mm.
