Being able to own a celebrity car, or a car from a film is not an opportunity that comes up very often and when it does, you are going to have to pay quite the coin for the privilege. But, here is a chance to own something a bit different at a relatively accessible price. This is a chance to own a car that was in a James Bond film, and we are not talking about one of his Aston Martins either!

James Bond drove a Mini Moke, a small beach buggy-like machine in 1973's Live And Let Die. And now, Moke America is offering you the chance to own an electric version of that Moke.  So it isn't the exact car used in the movie, but how many Astons were sold over the decades because they looked like what 007 drove?

San Monique Takes Its Name From The Fictional Caribbean Island

The Moke is to be called the 007 San Monique, taking its name from the fictional island that was featured in the film  Roger Moore’s Bond drove the Moke with a distinctive white and blue Bimini top and the 007 San Monique will sport the same. The San Monique logo, also shown in the film, is featured on the new Moke's spare wheel cover.

The original Moke - an archaic term for "mule" - was based on the original British Mini, which made it all the more appropriate for Bond to drive.  Moke America is the only Moke producer in the United States.   All of their models are electric, and all are fully customizable.

The Full Caribbean Experience

Moke America says the San Monique has an elevated design, with a white body, elegant wooden steering wheel with matching gear shifter which presumably is for just forward, neutral and reverse, since this is an EV. The classic white rims are also present to give it the full Bond vibe.  There are some modern features on the Moke, including a backup camera, which would be welcome when the plastic rear window is rolled down, and a Bluetooth-compatible radio so you can link your phone and access your steel-drum playlist.

Limited Editions Will Probably Sell Fast

via Moke America

These Mokes are available to buy now, but they are a limited edition run. If you want to purchase one now, a Moke Bond Edition will set you back $26,975. So, it's perhaps not cheap, but then again, think about how much you might pay for any other car Bond car from one of the movies, except perhaps, the Citroen 2CV from For Your Eyes Only.

Each Moke takes around three months to produce, but it will no doubt be worth the wait. One of the best Bond cars ever? Absolutely!
