Koenigseggs are fairly rare as far as road sightings go. Of course, the Swedish hypercar-maker is not necessarily giving them away. With an average asking price north of $2.5 million, it’s clear that these high-performance speed machines are targeted at the wealthiest one percent.

In that realm of money, it’s not uncommon to see these bespoke and highly customized cars parked away in storage. We’ve seen countless cars of such nature come up for auction with ridiculously-low miles. However, this Koenigsegg Regera takes “low-mileage” to a whole new level.

Thanks to YouTuber, Effspot, we were able to witness what is possibly one of the most beautifully-specced Koenigsegg cars with almost zero miles on the odometer. And it’s up for sale for around $5 million.

Sadly, though, you may have to fly to Dubai for this. Of course, if you have that sort of money to spend on a car, you’d probably have someone else fly there and take a look. Oddly enough, this hypercar wasn’t supplied to the Middle East originally and has spent a great deal of time elsewhere, despite not being registered or driven.

This Regera Is An Incredibly Rare Hypercar Sighting, Even By Dubai Standards

The used car scene in Dubai is nothing short of wild. From Bugattis and Paganis to names we cab only dream of, car shopping is, no doubt, a joyous experience if you’re living in one of the most luxurious cities of the UAE.

This Koenigsegg Regera is for sale at 66 Motors, causally sitting between a Rolls-Royce Wraith and a Mercedes-Benz Maybach GLS. While the video doesn't give us a lot of information other than where it is, reading through the comments, however, paints a different picture.

Interesting Story Behind This Almost-New Koenigsegg Regera

There’s more to the story, says username “Koenigsegg Jesko Registry. ” The comment goes into detail about its origin, previous owner, and how the multi-million dollar all-carbon hypercar ended up in Dubai. This Koenigsegg Regera, chassis number 7166, was delivered new via SuperVettura (the official Koenigsegg dealer for the UK) and then to Kingsway Koenigsegg, the official dealer for China, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Apparently, the original owner is the son of a Chinese billionaire with a crazy car collection, including two Pagani Zonda One-Offs, a Bugatti Chiron, an Agera R, and a host of other exotic machines. This all-purple Regera was ordered in Left-Hand drive. The irony being LHD vehicles cannot be registered or driven in Hong Kong. However, they can be imported, which may seem strange.

Anyway, it is believed that during the two years he had the car, the man barely drove it. The hypercar was for sale at Sunning Motors in Hong Kong with just eight miles on the odometer. Then in 2022, it arrived in Dubai, having changed hands.

It hasn't been driven since its arrival in Dubai and was originally listed for around $11 million. The price has since been adjusted and is now asking around $5 million, which may seem like a steal given it’s one of only two Regeras in the world optioned in purple-tinted carbon fiber. That said, even at this price, it doesn't seem like the hypercar is attracting any buyers.

In terms of the Regera’s engine, Koenigsegg equipped the hypercar with one of the most exclusive powertrains of any modern exotic. The powerplant, dubbed the Direct Drive System, includes a 5.0L twin-turbo V8 that produces 1,100 horsepower and three electric motors.

For the curious lot, the crankshaft motor produces 215 horsepower, driving the differential while also acting as an integrated starter motor generator. The rear motors each make 241 horsepower for a combined system output of 1,500 horsepower.

What’s more, the Regera doesn't even have a transmission, at least not in the conventional sense. The Koenigsegg Regera runs exclusively on electric power at speeds less than 30 mph. Above that, the internal combustion engine kicks in, seamlessly delivering power via the trick hydraulic coupling, as if the car had a one-speed transmission.

The Regera accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 249 mph, making it almost as fast as a Bugatti and way faster than any Ferrari. In fact, a while back, Bugatti set a 42-second record of accelerating to 400 km/hr from a standstill and back to zero with the Chiron. The Koenigsegg Agera RS broke the record by completing the run in 33.29 seconds. However, a year or so later, Koenigsegg did one better, beating the Agera RS in 0-400-0 by around two seconds with the Regera.

Koenigsegg has made and still continues to make some of the most visceral and rewarding cars in the industry. With the Jesko and Jesko Absolut waiting to hit the streets (and potentially break some records), one could only imagine where the company is headed. Sufficed to say, exciting times lie ahead for the Swedish hypercar brand.
